I'm the worst pilot ingame ya know!!!

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

Instead this has been replaced by land grabbing and rank, people too highly strung to have fun and a bit of banter, too obsessed by their ratio's to salute the person who has just outflown them.

The game is obviously far more successful and HTC have done a great job bringing the game forward, but for those people who have seen it all the way through, has it lost its fun factor?

This is by no means a dig at HTC, it was this thread which made me think of it: -

Well this debate has been raging since I started playing in 2003. It's still as fun for me as it always was, if it wasn't I wouldn't still play. Kinda miss the flat buildings though.

People have been talkin fondly about the "old days" since 2001 heheheh in other words I dont think anything has changed.Theres always this "Romantic" view of how it "use to be".You can prolly find Furballers VS toolshedder threads back in BETA I do miss the little touches ya mentioned though. The bottles of Booz, pizza and giant squid.Kinda gave ya a feeling the guys at HTC were no different than you and came from the same places.NOW THEYRE NOTHING MORE THAN SNOTTY,UPWARDLY MOBEL,NOSE IN THE AIR,SONS OF.........................he hehe kiddin:p  Still havin fun:aok

Its all the fault of those AW Bastiges I tell ya! (sarcasm off)

Course some of you ex AW types are pretty good people and good friends.
But Hey, I hadn't taken a swipe at you guys for quite a while.  :)

Community really hasn't changed that drastically, whats changed is people.
More ego's, more l33t speak bs, more whines about HO's that were not a HO, collisions, etc.

Part of it is education, part of it is teaching the new people that come along how we do it here. Although I know very well that it can be really hard with some tard is screaming in your ear not to just squelch him. (ps Vanscrew, walleye, and the rest of you who were screaming and squealing last night on range vox )  Like you can keep any kind of immersion going when some punk is screaming in your ear, reminding you minute by minute that yes this IS 2007, not 1944.

IMHO ... it all started to go downhill after the "Championship Shootout". Prior to that, rank was really not a serious objective in this game. Word of mouth and dogfighting reputation was really the only ranking system.

Once they attached money and "fame" to rank ... well ... you now see the results in 2007.

If I remember correctly ... it was the thread originator that won the Championship Shootout ... so he does shoulder some of the responsibilty of ongoing debacle ... :D

"Aces High Championship Shootout
Be a top pilot and win cash prizes flying Aces High!

Starting in December, HTC is awarding the top 15 pilots with the best overall rating at the end of the monthly Tour in the Main Arena a cash prize! The top pilot earns $100 and the remaining pilots in the top 15 earn $50 each. Better yet, the top 15 pilots for each month qualify for the chance to win $500 in the Championship Shootout held after 4 months of qualifying rounds.

Information on how the overall rankings are calculated can be found here: http://www.hitechcreations.com/ahhelp/scoring.html

Players may only qualify and receive a monthly cash prize once during the 4 month contest period. The Championship Shootout takes place after the 4 months of qualifying. The 60 qualifying pilots will face-off in a last-man-standing event for the $500 grand prize! An official rules webpage for the contest will soon be posted on our website. Good luck!"

u know furby...i was sayin that last night, i have hard time havin fun anymore on the game. only reason i find myself loggin in is so i can spend some time with my squadies and my TSM boyz. we always have a great convo goin on vox channel but have seemed to have lost the passion to fly any more, its the same maps over and over, i miss the big map, i miss the donut map most of all cuz of FT. and after last night i'm takin a break for awhile, too many idiots on the game ...one in particular.. lets just say that todd420 is back in the game and causing trouble once again. i just had enuff so its break time for me for lil bit anyways, IF i do log on at all will prolly b just to BS with my squadies and my TSM boyz. <>

I enjoyed the game immensely when it was all about AvA and most of the players were adults.  The game has seriously broadened in depth of gameplay and opportunity for variation of approach and I still enjoy the heck out of it.  But it has changed, like things tend to do.  Alot of younger players (much more talented at this than I).  The clincher is, for me at least, it is still fun, mostly, I guess.
