Landing
« on: September 04, 2007, 06:46:55 AM »
I was reading some of SEraidr or whatever his name is posts and it got me to thinkin about something else.  Someone in one of his posts sited that they landed without elevators on the big hanger pad which made me curious.  If I lose my engine at a half a sector out and glide back coming just short of the runway (still on the base mind you) or even worse slide just off the concrete it is not a successful landing but a ditch.

Just think that is kind of stupid since I am infact ON MY BASE and furthermore I didnt crash!

I thought any landing you could walk away from was successful *LOL

thoughts?

ya got to give him credit tho.... this one hasn't come up in the last couple of weeks :D

HTC had to draw the line some place for a good landing. He chose the runway. If he expaned it out to any concrete area, next week there would be someone complaining that the grass area should be good too, and so on and so on.

Next thing you know we'll have people falling from the sky missing a wing yelling "Come back you coward! Its only a flesh wound !"

Question:  what exactly has to be on the concrete to count as a landing.  I seem to remember hanging off the runway a good bit and still getting a landing.  I've always wondered exactly where the line is.

Me thinks something like "center" of the plane. Maybe pilot?

But that would be quite easy to check offline.

You can land on concrete anywhere, I believe.

I've put down a disabled 262 at a friendly strat and landed successfully.

I was most pleased with that.

I'm too lazy to test. IS it possible to "land" on the concrete at a factory?
