Is it just the door skin? And does the damage extend to fender? VERY easy to get door skin, get it painted, get paint matched up. Passat is a high-end car, paint has to be PERFECT though. Good idea would be to have a NICE rental car waiting for her on her arrival, and (obviously this is the weekend, so no shops open) a plan to get parts, estimates, etc.....Try to present a scenario to her that makes it all seem quite run-of-the-mill, and she  (likely won't go spastic). ..... (OK, and check out apartment rental rates:D )

88, I linked VWV because it's got a huge mass of VW nerds, so that's the best bet as far as finding out anything you couldn't figure out yourself with common sense.   I figured you would need that sort of knowledge base if you had doubts about (e.g.) whether the frame is affected, or if you were SOL in terms of just finding a clean door assembly from a junk yard and bolting it in place of the damaged one because of unobtanium tools (like for BMWs), etc.
It sounds like you're actualy panicking though... So what's the problem?
The damage is done, she's on her way, you've got to pick a solution and execute it.  

You can post on the vortex forums with the pertinent details on the damage and what you need them to explain to you that would help you choose a best plan or plans to follow.. In the Passat forums and any forum that seems to include that sort of thread. (these two I guess: Passat B5/B6/all others and/or Technical VW/Bodywork) I don't see any details about the damage itself so I can't give you any more specific advice than Bronk did.
As far as the relationship is concerned I'd tend to agree that so long as you didn't crash it on purpose and she can see you're doing your best at fixing the problems, then you should have a clear conscience.. what more should be expected of you?  You can't change the past.  Forget I mentionned this again if you really aren't panicking because of it like you seem to be.

The truth without exaggerations always works best ~ especially when it comes to the people you love.  Even if it hurts a bit at first, still the best.

If you do need to find a rental on a Sunday, try the airport.

My guess is she won't be as upset as you believe she will be.

Were you the one driving? It was the drivers door that was messed up?  I bet she'll be pretty happy you weren't hurt.

I’m concerned about your relationship, not because you biffed her car up, but because you seem terribly concerned about her finding out about it or seeing it wrecked.  This kind of thing happens in relationships all the time:

“Um, Honey, you know that rich, nearly dead, grandmother of yours who said that she is willing you everything as long as you marry while you are still a virgin?”  
“Yea?”  
“I think she just looked in the window while we were… you know.”

“Where happened to my Star Wars collectibles?”
“I traded them for crack.”

People get over this stuff; your situation isn’t that bad.  She won’t flip out that much, and if she does it’s about time you learned that about her.  Storch is right.

I wouldn’t report this to the insurance if you have another wreck this year.  Your/her rates will probably go up more than the repair costs.

You might be able to find something on the internet, a salvage yard, or something.   Google search : Drivers side door for _________

I found a door for my 72' duster for under $200 with shipping, by looking on the internet. I'm sure you can find a door for that car locally, really easy.

Mostly cosmetic then?  Looks like just the panel and mirror assembly.  Did you try and take it apart to see what happened underneath?  You might as well get disassembling if I understood your general plan right.
There's something crooked about the front quarter panel(s) too, if I'm seeing right.

Cheer up 88, you could've not noticed the damage   At least when it's all said and done you'll know you'll have done your best to face what you had to.
