Not sure that there is a real need for it, but I'd like to see the PBY added.  Just thought, any opinions?

Strap the bombs to it and make it launchable from ports is the only way I can think it would be useful in AH.

I'd like to see a Catalina. They sank a lot of ships (not sure on the exact amount). They could carry torps, bombs, and I'm not sure but I think it had a 57mm.

Great recon plane, fun to fly in I would think since it was the most successful flying boat of WWII.

Being able to launch 4,000 lbs of bombs or a couple of torps from a port would be very cool.  Plus, the plane itself is pretty neat.

I was almost thinking ports and VBases that are on the water, I mean truthfully it could launch out of anywhere.  HiTech, can we please have a Catalina?

They also had wheels so launching anywhere would be feasable but water launching from ports would be the coolest.

The biggest problem is there currently is no way to land successfully on water ala the PT boat problem.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Thought this worked the same way the offensive GV spawn point worked?  In the general area of spawn, no emeny's within range counts as a land.

I never rarely drive PT boats, and if I do it's a suicide mission anyway, so I have no clue

sometimes it works other times it doesn't.

I never heard of a PBY with a 57mm, I think you are thinking of a German plane that had one and was used for anti-shipping.
The problem with a PBY would be it not filling any role in the game that already is not filled. It would not be a formation as I'm almost positive it did not have a bomb sight so cannot be used for level bombing. Also modelling the plane to land on water without damaging it the way that our planes do now would be time consuming. There are very few ships that it would be able to sink anyways. Suplly convoys are rare and It would never get close to a CV. If it did get to the CV it does not carry enough ords to sink it anyways. If you really want a plane that can be launched from ports maybe consider the various float planes that were used by the Americans and Japaneese. Some actually were not half bad planes.
example: A6M2-N
"The seaplane base in Jaluit, for example, is known to have harbored in mid-1943 the Mitsubishi A6M2-N's ("Rufe"), a float plane version of the "zero" fighter"http://marshall.csu.edu.au/Marshalls/html/WWII/SeaPlaneOps.html is where I found that, might be able to find stats as well.

TBM can't sink a CV by itself and we still have it.

yes, because the TBM can take down a hanger by itself, or take down a good amount of a town. It fits a need. PBY does not. If you didn't notice the ports on most maps are very close to an airbase, from which a flight of B17's or B26's can be launched again st an attacking CV.
