Pretty sure that was Qui - or fried Ginnie pig.  I had it myself when I was en Ecuador...

And yeah... it tastes like chicken. Only more oily.

In Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela we call that 'Curi'.

Its a bigger 'version 'of a guinea pig. Very tasty. Imagine chicken with the taste of well seasoned kobe beef (chicken'ish of course).

Hello from Trujillo, Peru. Off to Lima this evening and tomorrow morning to Arequipa, a very lovely city.

Cuy is a Quechua name. I've had it many times and something I look forward to when visiting Peru. It's a recognized delicacy here in Peru.

It's very very tasty. In fact I was thinking about stopping by PetsMart next week and picking up a couple of breeding pair.

That drink on the table is Inca Cola and tastes very good....almost like cream soda but better.

You would not believe this but just now while typing this I paused in the business center of this small hotel to ask a very sexy Peruvian lady about raising Cuy and now have a phone number.

I've eaten a lot of strange things, and I'll bet that is tasty, but I'd never try it if it looked like that.  Cut up and served in slices?  Sure.  But the way they served it?  Not on your life.

I was thinking the same thing.   Looking at that fried rat head, and it's little fried rodent claws on the plate would gross me.

Tragedy! These Cuy never realized that they had invited Jack the Ripper to their slumber party.

For the sexy Peruvian lady or for a rat breeder?

I once had cheval for lunch in Switzerland. I was a good way through it before I finally remembered from high-school French what 'cheval' is.

It was surprisingly tasty.

I refuse to eat anything with it's little rat head and rat claws still attached. Grind it up and make tamales, then I'm OK with it.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.
