Hey, all! Just got the full-band version of my song, "What of Them" back from the studio in Nashville. The previous version only had the vocal track and rythm guitar; this one has the full band behind it. I had hoped to have it back in time to post it on 9/11, but there were a few more mixing issues that required another round of review before final release.

By the way, my personal feeling is that every member of congress needs to hear the message in this song. If after listening to it you agree, please write, email, or phone your representatives and senators and ask them to listen to it too.

Lyrics: "What of Them" by Rich Owen (a.k.a Sabre)
Copyright 2007
Verse 1:
Saw a politician on TV
He was demanding now to know
How the man in charge would end this war
And bring our soldiers home.
It never once occurred to him
To ask a better one, instead
How to help our soldiers win the war,
And see the danger at an end.
What happens to our country,
If we back down from this fight?
What do we say to the families of our heroes
Who have fallen just doing what was right?
Chorus:
What of them?
What of their sacrifice?
Will you pull the rug out underneath
Without ever thinking twice?
You say you want to bring our boys home
But tell me, at what price?
If you leave the job half finished,
You toss their honor to the side
What of them?
Verse 2:
What of the mother who has lost a son?
The child whose lost her dad?
Should we tell them it was all for not
After they gave all they had?
Did our soldier leave the home of the brave
But come home to the land of the meek?
There are few things that are worse than war
And they all come with defeat.
Bridge:
Only two ways you’re gonna end this war
We either fight until it’s won
Or we can turn our tail and run
We can argue ‘bout what we’re fightin’ for
But don’t look ‘em in the face
And order them to run away.
Yeah, they’re our heroes.
Our fathers, our brothers,
Our neighbors and our friends….
What of them? Whoa… What of them?
