A Mig 29 of with a helmet-mounted off-bore site

Just one a month, to take off from a base off the map, to be awarded to the best fighter pilot of the previous tour.

One plane, full complement of weapons, two refuels and reloads, and that's it.

It'll be like the Ferrari Enzo. A pilot, if chosen, will have the option of buying this plane for all his perks. If not, the option gets passed down to the next guy in line. If he lands the plane, he gets his perks back. If not, well, whoever gets the kill is a rich man.

I think it would be great, and would have no drawbacks whatsoever.

dunno.... Supersonic in a vertical climb verses a max of 450 in a dive... Should make an entertaining video.

Problem is ... we have no true way to tell who is the "best fighter pilot" in any given month.

His base would be off the map, and unless the MiG pilot is a total fool, he'd see a dot following him and would either vaporize that dot, or just put on afterburners and outdistance him by a hundred miles.

Of course, anybody that does manage to sneak up on him would be deserving of the points.

As for the best pilot dilemma... Just open the option to buy to the top ranked fighter pilot of the previous tour--whichever tour that may be, and if he rejects, open it to the runner up. Once a month. I know this may not be the 'best pilot', but, statistically, it's what we have to work with.

The deathstar1 was not as cool as the deathstar2, the later was able to target incoming capital ships where the predicessor could only destroy planets.   That being said my favorite piece of metal in the Imperial Navy is the Super Star Destroyer.  A fine example of which served as Lord Vader's personal vessel and flag ship of the fleet that massed in the Hoth system.
