I saw one at Gander Mountain for a cheap bellybutton price and thought it was a rip off. Are they??  Why are they so cheap. Must be a Soviet weapon that was produced in gigantic numbers is the only reason i can think of for it's cheapness.

Yup.  Since the Mother Land was never really a super power, the only war they saw happening would be an invasion.  So they made / stockpiled all the guns they had.  They tried to get enough to put a rifle and a 5'er in the hands of every "Subject" to fight off the invading hoardes.


But since the invasion never happened, large crates of them were bought up by capitalistic entrepreneurs after the Glorious Mother Land decided to take a vacation and sold for huge profits, even though they seem really cheap.
