Yep, there might had been hundreds of planes in air same time from tens of units so it's unlikely that radio would have helped.

The ducks were to indicate decoy missions as stated above, my uncle was a waist gunner with the 100th BG and had 2 ducks on his plane also.

Im glad i was not a figherpilot in WW2. As a norwegian i would prolly have flown spitfires. I think the spit is lame so i would prolly have shot down my squaddies and ditched then torched my own plane. They would be upset about that i guess.

I kind of figure it was a flock of ducks a gunner shot or they both ran into the props of the plane thats what I figure :lol

either that or you get brain washed by Germany and be a grunt either way it all pans out you shoot squadies and ditch you shoot friendy grunts and meet Mr.Diesel SMOKE in the chamber lol but yeah I dont think you guys had Spits then because the Spitfire was Britans prize and they loved all planes only a few americans got to fly the SPITs during war time. Well thats from what I read... And also I think your other choice would have to be some russian made plane or p-40's we had a butt load of them..


Also can any one tell me what the III mark is for on the p51 I thought it was the (I dont know if im spelling this right but) Third Riche?? or JR lufftewaffe Pilots. I dont really know fill me in

Agh???

Someone needs to brush up on their RAF History. :rolleyes: Just for starters, Polish pilots flew Spits during BoB. Norwegian squadrons in the RAF that flew Spits were 331, 332, 335 and 336.

Czech, Dutch, Free French, Belgium, Canada, Aussie and NZ had Spit squadrons.

I should add that the Soviets received some 1000 or so Spitfires Vs and IXs. Spit Vs fought the Germans during the battles of the Kuban.

Jeez breg, we were so desperate for pilots in the BoB we even let a few Yanks fly some Spits (as long as they removed their chewing gum first) ;)
