I hope you'll reconsider Fester, more than that... I hope you're personal life gets back on an even keel. Thanks for all you've contributed through the years no matter what you decide to do.

talk about a hijacked thread... went from a simple great DGS frame topic to a clash of letters...:( . Honestly it was un-called for to be honest.

No, as I said it was right before.  Why did you lock me out of our squad forums?

the only other person I asked as to why they were flying allies was steve. I didnt ask him to join the axis I asked why when the whole squad is over here he is there as a walkon?

You asked me,  but so what?  I don't see a problem with the CO of a squad trying to get his whole squad to fly on the same side. The deal with XJ was simple:  Have him switch after the frame.

When the the XJ thing was developing, I was asked if you and XJ would cheat.  I defended you both, saying I didn't know of either of you being anything but honorable.
When it was mentioned that XJ wasn't going to be allowed to fly because he had the Allied orders, I replied that if someone was going to cheat, they'd give up the plans whether they were allowed to fly or not so he should be allowed to play.

For this defense of XJ, and you, whom I considered a virtual friend, I was booted off the squad forum.  I had enough integrity to keep our squad forum conversations, regarding  DGS, private. This with the exception of mentioning that you tried to get our squad all on the same side. I'll say it again, I don't see anything wrong with that. The timing for XJ to switch wasn't great but it was a trivial thing and I have already mentioned my opinion on this.

As far as me being a walkon:  ASW asked me to fly with him in August, I told him I would, time and babysitters allowing.  I never got around to registering because I just didn't feel like it.  I told this to ASW and he said I shouldn't worry, he'll keep a spot for me.  I like flying Mustangs. The squad has always held that we can play on any side, fly any plane.   Why did it change for DGS?
You basically booted me from the squad forum because YOU were posting about DGS there and I was participating in the threads.  Do you feel that was appropriate to boot me, thus making it clear that I was not welcome in the squad?

I received an invite back in to the squad, did I incorrectly assume it was from you? I'm starting to wonder, based on what you have typed here and the fact that I'm still not able to access squad forum.

Hmmm......

Well I had a GREAT TIME.

Caught a pony that SEEMED to be practicing REALLY BAD SA and BOOM!

Then turned towards 3 or 4 more flyin to the south of us.

Engaged and of all things to hear???? Squad CO said break off?????

Turned and started climbout BUT.......

Some wicked, nasty, naughty naughty, bad bad, EVIL pony pilots <2> came after me!

2nd one finally hit my pilot and my rad :( :furious :cry

Ran to A37 ( I think it was A37 ) and tried to land deadstick but one of the pony pilots followed.  I turned and avoided but by this time my speed was way to low to get a successful landing and I bellied in for a ditch BUT....

died just before I towered :furious

Reupped and rejoined and shot down another pony and think I got an assist on a 3rd. (DANG Lute keeps stealin all my kills)     :rofl >
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

Just for the record bud, I asked Steve to fly with me in DGS months ago - before either he or I knew the muppets would be flying axis. You've got lots of class, fester - it's all low but you've got plenty of it.

cya.

Very different than the BearKat FW 190A8 group's day. Upped, climbed to 30K. We flew around WAY east... went North, went South  Never saw a bomber. Tanks almost dry we ran into a group of ponys... Probably a good approximation of what a Luftwaffe 190 jock experienced in 1944! I'll try again next week!

As far as the Allies having an "unfair" advantage, well Germany lost the war so here we are again being historicly accurate. Germanys biggest problem during the war was it's leadership. Seems this is the case this time around as well....again historicly accurate.

I also find it a bit strange that the Axis were concentrated along the original flight plan for this frame. Luckily for the Allies we had good leaders that changed the plan as soon as they found out there MIGHT be a security leak. I'm not accusing anyone of anything but it is odd as others have also commented on.

Regardless, I never even saw a german plane today. Heard there were a couple that came near our formation but that was it. Never saw an icon. Only thing I had to worry about was flying a tight formation and dropping on the target. Would have been nice to see some action but all in all I still had a fun time.

 Flame ON:

I was in a 190 Gruppen that never saw a bomber! Der OberKommandoLuftwaffe wants to know why we burned all that valuable fuel flying in circles 100 km from the nearest bomber.

My personal evaluation is that the "High Command" should pay more attention to the tactical situation at hand and less to their preconceived notion of what their opposite number "should" be doing.

As a lowly walkon pilot I was bored out of my skull. It was like flying off-line!

Our Gruppen had now idea of the overall situation. This was probably due the the leadership not having a clue as to what was happening.

I rememer a principal from the Army's Basic Non-Commisioned Officer Course that states that a good leader always keeps his superiors and subordinates informed... Based on my day, this flow of information broke  down at all levels of command on the axis side.

The Axis "Plan" was flawed in it's conception and bungled in it's execution, in my humble opinion.

This exercise was a demonstration of a TOTAL intellengence failure! The Allied bomber force was able to fly to their targets UNMOLESTED!!!!!!!! Why was this allowed to happen? The ENTIRE command and staff of the axis side should be transfered to the Infantry on the Eastern Front. Hermann is laughing from hell that our sim staff couldn't protect the fatherland any better than he and the OKL did in 1944!

Remember the 6 "P" principal:
Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance:eek:

and my motivation to miss days from work and get canned was my addiction to this game which after being named CO has gotten out of control. I must step back from it to have any chance of getting her back and hopefully my job back too.

so its a double edged thing. the excitement of looking forward to frame 3 but the knowledge I must stop the level of addiction I have gotten to the game and this scenario to repair the damage I have done to my life.

Good luck Fester. I wish you nothing but the best.

..and for what it's worth, you're doing the absolute right thing. We can't allow anything -- even good things, fun things like AH -- master us to the point that life in general suffers. When we get so hooked on even the good things that really important stuff suffers, the only choice is to step away and let perspective work its way back.

And don't sweat the scenario. It will go on, and it will work out. Take care of the things that matter most, and if the time comes to return, we'll be here.

Good luck to you, and never lose sight of what really matters. Do what it takes to make those important things right, ..:aok
