My rockets don't explode or penetrate armor, they just bounce off. If I hit a tank w my rocket it should explode on impact. I think a rocket is equal to about a 200 pound bomb. I've heard 170.

I can kill jeeps, m3's, pt's and  m16's with them.  Can't remember if LVT's are included in that list but maybe they are.

Osti's I've smoked, at least i thought it was me, but not one tank can I kill with them. They all bounce off.
 Anyone else?

what rockets were your using the little 190 Flak rockets or Pony rockets or P38 rockets and u gotta hit em in the butt weakest armor they'll bounce of sides and top and front armor backs the most likly to penetrate

Yes, but they shouldn't have to penetrate.

However, without damage that builds over time to armor, it becomes a nearly moot point.

I agree. Rocket shouldn't be able to penetrate. And the rockets are equivalent to a 50lb bomb, IIRC, not 200. Still shouldn't bounce, just go boom.
Too often I see my rocket hit side armour and bounce off, without exploding. If it had exploded,even if it doesn't kill tank or tread it, it would at least kill the pintle...:p

Why should a rocket not bounce off?  Tank rounds do all the time and I have skipped bombs off of tanks as well as ostwinds, and if you want a picture I will post it.   Unless it is shaped charged armor piercing rocket, I.E. RS-132, it is not going to do much.  Yes it should take out a pintel gun and maybe do some light damage to the tread or engine, but it all depends on how it hits and where.  An HVAR rocket from say a P-51 is about 55 pounds of Net Explosive Weight.  This will take out a light ground vehicle, I.E. Osti, M16, M3, etc.  These won't do much to a tank, and if so it could be that luck of the shot thing.  Take up and IL-2 and smash it as that is what they were made to do.  Besides, what better way to beat a tank than to take a tank with wings!  Or just take a B25 and shot that spud gun right next to the gv on the ground and watch the flak hit it, works just as good.

The point is that none of those should bounce off, Sketch. Bombs, rockets, or HE rounds. AP rounds ought to be the only thing to bounce as far as I know.

It is coding in the game and I have sent in film and screen shots of bombs skipping off of GV's...  I know that is the point, never said he was wrong with it, but this goes right along with the lag in the game and planes colliding.

How so? All computations of shots take place on the shooter's computer. The "shootee's" machine simply receives whether there was a hit, where, and if it penetrated.

It is just one of those "things" in the game that happen, that you will always hear people complain about.....

Sketch ... I would have to say that the reason for that bomb bouncing (and the other bomb stuck in the ground) was due to the fact that the bombs did not travel 800+ feet ... thus they were never armed ... hence the bounce.

Nope, sent the film in and it did go off... after it started chasing my bombers! :eek:   Something to do with the modeling and such I guess.  I have not done it since the last patch but not sure if that was something they put in the 'read me' file or not.  I have skipped the IL2's rockets off of the flat section above the engines on panzers and tigers.... I guess my angle was wrong. :D
All the bombs went off as I was high enough and they did travel far enough, was just one of those things I guess.... :aok

If that were the case, the bombs in front of or behind it would not have detonated.

Great information Murder. So the 5in rocket is equivalent to a 156 pound bomb which should definitely do some kind of damage on impact no matter what it hits.  Even if it lands right next to a tank it should at least be enough to get an assist once it's killed by another tank or bomb. I know I get a few kills while straifing  why not rocketing.
