I have all sounds down to about 50 so i can hear music should i decide to fly along to music with windows media player in the background.  It does make it tricky to hear vox with music on though, whether thats a good thing or a bad thing you decide.;)

how many "aces" do fly with sounds on?  I only play music when i'm having a few beers, otherwise i like to try and be immersed in flying a ww2 fighter.  Am i the only one who enjoys hearing the loud roar of your planes engine, especially when engaging WEP.  The guys who make sounds packs for AH provide a fantastic service to the AH communty.

I fly with sounds at default...except that annoying base under attack thing.
If you are relying on hearing the enemies plane, you have bigger issues.

I fly with all my sounds pretty much at default although I did turn my engine sound down to ~90% so I could hear the wind better.

I'm not willing to give up the immersion for some edge in gameplay.  After all, WWII pilots probably couldn't turn their engine sounds down so they could hear bandits better.  Seems to me like a crutch for weak SA.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

U forget the part where they wore earmuffs?

I turn my sounds down for that sole purpose alone so i dont have constant roaring in my ears since they are sensitive(one has permenant damage)

It makes it alot easier to hear my radio and mellows the flight out for me so i can stay calm and cool and not get exited or ill.

The more relaxed u are when u fly the quicker u think and the less mistakes u will make.

Oh please, stop kidding yourself.  You turn it down to hear the engines of other planes.

Maybe its time HTC tied external sounds volume to internal sounds volume.
E.g. own engine @ 10%, external engines @ 10% also.:t

well since i got a crappy headset and mic external engine noise will actually feed back into my mic and makes it sound like im talking threw a lawnmower.

I do keep external sounds at normal though so that I can hear enemy planes.

I still remember the part where it is a game, and I like to watermelon chat, go over stratagy and generally TALK TO MUCH while im in the air near a combat zone.

I get caught sleeping alot befor I get ready to enter a fight by a high cherry picker waiting for the incoming enemys.

I dont really mind so much but my main point is if my internal engine noise was normal then i would not be able to talk at all without causing distortion.

I have the weirdest problem with my MIC, i have to mute and unmute it approx. 3 times  in the sound properties each time i boot up to get it to work.

I just like my stuff to work right, and if it dont work right then i made do with what i got. I have to pretty much turn down any CONSTANT sound while im playing. for example, STALL, Engine, tread, wake, wind.

All of them play havoc with my ears and my mic. so they got to go.
