New Movie - Alien v Predator-Requiem
« on: November 12, 2007, 11:49:54 AM »
Whoa... this looks like it could be as good as ALIENS was... http://www.avp-r.com

Quote
Synopsis:  When a Predator scout ship crash lands in a Colorado town. The Aliens on board escape and kill all the Predators except one. The last remaining Predator must now destroy all the Aliens as well as the horfic Pred-Alien that was spawned in the first AVP. Meanwhile the towns people are helplessly caught in the middle of the ultimate face-off between these two mythic creatures. A sequel to the 2004 film AVP directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, "Alien vs Predator: Requiem" continues the Alien-Predator war.

  :aok
You might want to DL the trailers for this one.  Release date 25 December... Christmas Day

thanks for the links, didn't know another was coming out.

I will say I loved the first AVP movie! :aok not many did from what I heard. even so, it left the story open for sequels and I think it could do good as a franchise, if a but of work was put in on the story line.
I don't know what to put here yet.

One would hope so... it would take a real effort to make it worse than the first one.  Of course, they again have made humans the centerpiece in a movie titled Alien vs Predator, so they're headed down the same crappy road.

Only the first two alien movies and the first predator movie were worth watching. Well, the second predator wasn't terrible. After the last Alien vs Predator crap I'm definitely waiting for favorable reviews.

I may be wrong, but I think that Humans were an important role in the Video Game.

I'll post the thread from CGtalk forums which is a professional CG artist site where i hang out when not lurking here.

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=59&t=532699&page=1&pp=15&highlight=alien+predator

Colin Strause (one half of the Brothers Strause) who direct the film, adds to the thread hes called 'Jackdeth' they own ' hydraulx' a VFX company (visual effects) so at least we know the effects should be good

in the games you could play as any of the species and each had its own story and difficulty,
Play as the alien = not that scary (cos your the monster) sneak up on humans and bite them in the face
Play as a predator = easymode, big guns different views to flick through.
Play as a space marine = 'beep beep beep' then Crap yourself (scary game)

I thought the first AvP was ok, my brother idolises AvP simply for the special effects.  To be fair he loves any artwork by Giger. He is doing a BA in model making and wants to end up making things for movies himself.  His tutor helped create the batsuit in batman forever and apparently sleeps with parts of Gotham city under his bed.

I'm hoping this movie will be much better than the first.  From the trailers it looks like there will be more action atleast.

I second that... Personnally I'm looking forward to "I am Legend"  a remake of "The Omega Man" based on the novel "I am Legend"  From what I've read so far this remake is closer to the book than "The Omega Man"..  will be interesting to see if they kill off Will Smith at the end...

Are you scared because of the guy sleeping with part of Gotham City under his bed, or sumping else?

I'm already hoping to not be dissapointed in I Am Legend.

Great novel.  Vinny Price did the first movie great justice.
Then came Moses, erm Charlton Heston with the remake known as The Omega Man and that was ok to watch... But I'm waiting in trepidation with this latest Will Smith gig.  yeah yeah yeah he did I, Robot pretty good.  Let's see if he can keep the pace.

"I am Legend" does look interesting. Will Smith is no Charlton Heston but he may pull it off.

I didn't know there was a video game, nor do I really care what was in it.  I suppose if they actually put an effort into making the human characters interesting and give the audience a reason to care about whether they live or die, it could make for an all round decent movie.  But based on the first one, I wouldn't hold out too much hope.  I'd much rather have an hour and a half of ALIENS and PREDATORS shooting exploding squishing tearing slashing stomping biting ripping each other to bits with the theater speakers turned up so loud my seat rumbles and my ears wince as explosions mix with rock and techno.  A complete movie with quality writing and story development would be better, but really, what are the odds of that even being attempted, much less accomplished.

They should've just adapted the AvP comic (book/series) into a screenplay. It would have made a far better story than the first AvP movie or this one.
