It would be very foolish of the progressives to make a move that would motivate us frogs to jump out of the pot. All they need to do is keep control of the schools and within a generation or two they can "teach" guns away with little resistance. Their impatience may be their undoing.

Simple, I'd keep them.  If that makes me a "bad guy" then bring it on.

Agreed...all one has to do is read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers.  Yes, they argued about the wording of the 2nd Amendment.  That said, they BOTH favored gun ownership by individual citizens.   Look at the times, most every owned guns...they weren't suggesting they all turn them in then, or ever......  In fact, they feared that the final wording would be misunderstood.  Many favored a more simple Amendment... "The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed".   They bastardized it by trying to ADD the right to a civilian militia......one armed as the government was armed, to assure no dictatorships evolved.  We would have been better served with two separate amendments, accomplishing the two goals, rather than the one size fits all approach.

The infringments to gun ownership are unconstitutional.   Too many have stood by and allowed the erosion of this sacred right.

Let it end here.

I wouldn't turn in anything they couldn't take from me.  They can't take away this right.  Period.

It`s not a good guy/bad guy scenario as described. It` a no brainer.
When and if such a thing like this should happen, the government would be making an attempt to take complete control. In such a case they have become the enemy.

Well, I look at it a little differently. I'd be a good guy and keep my guns.

The bad guys would be the guys trying to take the guns and trying to erase our Constitutional rights.

I'd probably move to one of the militia states, like Idaho, and get ready for the ultimate resolution of the question of whether the government serves the people or simply rules them.

A while back we had a bit of a tragedy occur when a nutter strolled into a busy little tourist town and opened up.
Now Oz already had tighter gun controls than the US, or it it likely that the situation may not have been as bad. [personal view]The way this guy calmly walked around shooting people allowed any person holding a firearm the opportunity to end the situation then and there, quickly and decisively.[/personal view]
After this incident, our illustrious King Johnny decided it would be just better off if we didn't have any guns at all.
All automatic weapons were outlawed, stricter controls were placed on pistol ownership. Now the only people with ready access to firearms are either law enforcement and some security personell, military or criminals. Outside of the military, guess who has the more guns?
