MA vs AVA

Before I ever set foot in the AvA I asked for some guidelines so I wouldn't come in not knowing how things were run and screw it up for everyone.  Below is  what I got in return to my question and is what I expected.   Hence the perception Slash27.  Not dogging anyone.  Just came in with the wrong expectations.

My understanding of the AVA culture is the following

1) Don't HO on the initial merge
2) Don't gang (anything over 2 v 1 is overkill)
3) Don't vulch
4) Ask your countryman if he needs help vs a con before engaging
5) your adversary after an engagement
6) Be a gentleman and if you screw up and do any of the aforementioned admit it and try not to do it again.

I would say that most of the regulars would and do abide by those guidelines.  Lately, there have been quite a few (percentage-wise) who are new to the arena, so that is most likely why you have not experienced what was "advertised."

For example, the last two times I was in there, I did not take or receive a single HO shot from anyone, despite ample opportunity -- not just on first merge, but second, third, and (when I was lucky) more.  But, there have been other nights when I was HOed so frequently early in the evening that I started returning the favor without bothering to think about it.

Like any of the arenas, there will be good nights and bad nights.

Not in the current setup. It's not that I can't play the game that way (it's basically the same as a scenario). But for me, it makes SA more work than I care to partake of.

The "HO" issue isnt always going to go away. To me a "HO" occurs on the merge. Now in a good one on one the trick is to pass on "mutual front quarter" shots. Sometimes thats a very grey area, TC felt I took a marginal such shot on him at one point. From his view we were apparently very close to nose to nose at the top of a vertical....from my end he'd stalled out a bit earlier and i had canopy shot from a FQ view. He had no problem voicing his thoughts and I took zero offense at his comment and simply recognized we had a slight bit of lag between us and flew slightly different lines to minimize that issue from then on. A bit earlier I ran into jamusta's 38 when he inadvetently spun it out...simply shot thru him and then ran into him....again no biggie....wasnt on purpose from either side...

I actually have high hopes for the avengers, given time and some gentle massaging they may be a good thing for the AvA....

HO is a small issue and I direct nothing towards the Avengers.  Never been there during their squad night.

Nothing is going to change in any arena unless it is run like the TA.  Strict set of guidelines that if blatantly abused gets you ousted.   Even if you have a group of quality guys, it only takes a few to start the snowball effect or the quality just leaves.   Such as Dedalos did.

Went back in last night since I saw low numbers.  Perfect night.  Good fights all around for hours.  When some well known guys are not on, the place is great.

Dedalos pretty much ruined DA.
