Raider, I'm glad we've motivated you to improve.:aok
If you just find ONE thing every day to make an extra effort to improve you will go far. So many people never make the effort to improve their lives and that of those around them.

wasn't just you guys that did. My football team talked to me one night, and to each other about how we got to stick together and do well in school. I don't plan to stay back in highschool so i'm going to try my hardest in every class and try to work on doing my Homework after school before i do anything. Also i'm going to do 1 sport a season so i stay out of trouble last year in 8th grade i just did footbal and got in lots of trouble out of school afte the season, and my grades went down after the season.

YOU KNOW YOU'RE GETTING 'MARVELOUSLY MATURE' WHEN.............

1. You and your teeth don't sleep together.
2. Your try to straighten out the wrinkles in your socks and discover you aren't wearing any.
3. At the breakfast table you hear snap, crackle, pop and you're not eating cereal.
4. Your back goes out but you stay home.
5. When you wake up looking like your driver's license picture.
6. It takes two tries to get up from the couch.
7. When your idea of a night out is sitting on the patio.
8. When happy hour is a nap.
9. When you're on vacation and your energy runs out before your money does..
10. When you say something to your kids that your mother said to you and you always hated it.
11. When all you want for your birthday is to not be reminded of your age.
12. When you step off a curb and look down one more time to make sure the street is still there.
13. Your idea of weight lifting is standing up.
14. It takes longer to rest than it did to get tired.
15. Your memory is shorter and your complaining lasts longer.
16. Your address book has mostly names that start with Dr.
17. You sit in a rocking chair and can't get it going.
18. The pharmacist has become your new best friend.
19. Getting "lucky" means you found your car in the parking lot.
20. The twinkle in your eye is merely a reflection from the sun on your bifocals.
21. It takes twice as long - to look half as good.
22. Everything hurts, and what doesn't hurt - doesn't work.
23. You look for your glasses for half an hour and they were on your head the whole time.
24. You sink your teeth into a steak - and they stay there.
25. You give up all your bad habits and still don't feel good.
26. You have more patience, but it is actually that you just don't care anymore.
27. You finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart.
28. You wonder how you could be over the hill when you don't even remember being on top of it

I have been reading this thread and laughing a lot. Maybe i can add something, and not detract from what has already been said.

When i was in school, way back in the 90's english and litterature were about the easiest classes form me to pass. I have always had a more creative than analytical mind, and math; man i just could not understand
algebra two. Now i am actualy trying to write this right but the internet has courrupted me.
Spelling is very easy for me, hitting the right keys on the keyboard with only six fingers is very very frustrating.
So yes i have adopted chat speak, because it does not make my wrist and hands hurt.
Well anyway back to school, i was one of those very inteligent but not trying kids. i was very depresed throughout high school so bad that it got to the point i wanted to die.

I now realized that i settled for F#%&ing my future.
My junior year was the worst, i was trying to work two jobs, and go to school. That's no excuse though; because i was also trying to get laid, smoked up on some good weed, drunk and anything else teenagers do.
So anyway they worked it so that i was not held back. iI just went into easy classes like senior math and home ec. I had two classes that I had to pass, even with a full schedule. So I stupidly went home everyday after second period and managed to kill what little gpa i had.

i "graduated" in 1999, got a girl pregnant (who eventualy lost the child) and just this year went back into school. I still don't know what i want to do but at least I'm doing something. I'm 27 now and still live with my mom, all I do is work, school and play on the computer; I've not spoken with a female in six months, I just do not have the time to waste.

I know that you younger people know everything already, i did.
I'm just trying to give you an example of my own expereinces.
But i will tell you this, even after all that i am a much more happy person than i was in high school.
I am still antisocial but slightlt more "well adjusted".
It took me all these years to deal with my personal problems, and even though im in good shape now i still wish i hadn't been such a f##K up in high shcool and my early 20's.

Sorry for the long preaching post, if i do it again you have permision to stone me.

p.s. that took about 15 minutes to write and ten to fix.
I am very capable of writing readable english (not perfect)
i just perfer not to put myself to the trouble and pain of doing it all the time.
And if anyone thinks this typing is too bad please do not ask me to write anything by hand which i can not do.

Yeah thought i would post a little joke. But well grammar is hardest for me math is easy and science is  simple for me. I think i just like to do things in school that i think are fun English class is the least of all the fun things. But hey its high school i shouldn't be having fun at all. I'll try but i don't think I'm going to start to like English class much more then I do now.

yes some people love math and hate english.
i loved shakespeare and poetry more than anything else, biology was cool because i got to cut things open and find out how they work.
Auto shop and carpentry were fun untill i had a problem with a band saw in 10th grade.

OK this is My Schedule

Block    class
A         Team Sports (gym)

B         Environmental Science

C         Algebra 1

D         English

E         World History

F          Spanish

my grades are all C's except in Team Sports because I'm very athletic. I love science and math because i love working with numbers and learning about are world and other worlds as well as the organism's in them. English seems boring to me because i dislike reading what she chooses. I'm into war books and action and she makes us read Poems books and Greek mythology
