local news says he is a "diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic who has not been taking his meds."

hope no one gets hurt, this could've ended quickly if anyone in that office had been exercising their NH Constitution guaranteed right to open carry.

Why are they now after people on the Right??

I doubt that any Republican would be demanding to speak to Hillary Clinton.

News reports are saying that the man recently went through a bad divorce.  His wife apparently dumped him, for some unknown reasons.

Do you think that he may have a secret crush on the former First Lady?   Perhaps he is just feeling lonely and unloved, and wants to speak to a charming woman.

One has to really wonder about Al-Qaeda these days.   Our Presidential election is in full swing, with all the candidates mingling with the general public.   They are all extremely exposed at present.

Why is Al-Qaeda unable to make any assassination attempts on any of the candidates?  In fact, over six years have now gone by since 9/11, and no terrorist attacks of any kind have taken place here in our country.   Not by Al-Qaeda, or any other terror group.

If these people hate us so much and want to destroy us, then why have there been absolutely no attacks inside America?

One almost gets the impression that Al-Qaeda is off hiding from the US Military in some caves somewhere.

lazs, I don't know the specifics of what was going on or how it all went down, but I don't think it would be a good idea to try unless you were right next to the bomber and were able to simply put the barrel to his head without him knowing and pull the trigger.

...and hope he doesn't have a switch on it like Vulcan said.

he had a divorce hearing set for 1:30.  Hostages were taken at 1:00.  I think it's safe to say this wasn't politically motivated, except for maybe his soon-to-be ex-wife was a Hillary supporter.

I had the rare opportunity for a beltway outsider to ask that question several years ago to Philip Zelikow, who was the director of the 9/11 commission and now does work in Iraq for Condoleezza Rice.

His answer was that getting people willing to actually blow themselves up is fairly rare (especially outside of the ME slums or educated and able to travel and operate successfully outside of the ME) and that al-Queda pretty much depleted itself on 9/11 in the US. He did expect outsiders to cross the border for a quick hit relatively soon, which hasn't happened.

What we have now, and have in Europe in many cases, is an entirely decentralized effort among like-minded extremist not directly affiliated to al-Queda. Their quality will vary. So far, it has sucked, fortunately. Just like the morons that made the first attempt on the Twin Towers and went back to collect the refund on the van.
