Either you know nothing about the middle east or you're ignorant that Islam is growing in the west.

Actually, either you're ignorant of the actual feasability of your fearful claim (Muslims take over and control the U.S.) or you're ignorant that the growth of Islamic followers in the U.S. isn't so explosive as to threaten your lifestyle and that the vast majority of U.S. Muslims are quite "westernized."

I work in an office in which at least 30% are Muslim. Not a single one is a jihadist. Less than 10% of the women wear even a headshawl. And, demographically speaking, no other single group exhibits more tolerance, compassion, civility and maturity here.

One of our supervisors here is Jewish and proudly displays the Iraeli flag in his office. Not one death threat. Go figure.

That's why claims such as yours come off as "nutball" to people who know better. :D

I'm confident I know as many Muslims as you. I've yet to know one who viewed women as equals, even the "westernized" version. When you are a relatively small minority whose way of life may not be embraced by the majority among whom you live, you maintain a low profile. As numbers grow, people are emboldened, especially when those whose real estate they share seem to be weaker.

Confident! I'm sure you are. People don't tend to make blanket statements unless they're ... confident.

Still ..... it sure comes across more than mildly fearful and paranoid. If it makes you feel more secure, go back to worrying about illegal immigration from the southern border.

Trust me, you're not nearly in as much danger of cultural extinction as the Indians were when the roots of present day Europeanized North America came about. You just need to appreciate Latino music more.

:aok

Allen, Texas

The racial makeup of the city was 87.14% White, 4.40% African American, 0.52% Native American, 3.73% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 2.41% from other races, and 1.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.98% of the population.

Euless, Texas

The racial makeup of the city was 75.52% White, 6.49% African American, 0.64% Native American, 7.15% Asian, 1.86% Pacific Islander, 5.38% from other races, and 2.96% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 13.31% of the population. Euless has one of the largest populations of Tongans in North America.

Fear the inevitable Tongan takeover![/b]

I've lived in Allen since I retired from the Air Force in '95 Arlo. For 20 years prior I lived all over the US and in a few other countries. I currently have customers (including a couple of muslims) all over Dallas and worked with a male muslim from Pakistan for a several of the last 12 years and know some of his friends. Ask one of your male muslim buddies about a woman's role if you think I'm so ignorant.

Had the conversation dozens of times, already. Guessing you're presuming the topic never comes up here. :aok Besides, I've heard some self-proclaimed Christians voice some rather ... ummmm .... interesting perspectives concerning women's roles so I wouldn't be so quick to mark the line of demarcation at the feet of the Muslims. :D

Office of over 800 people, btw. ;)

I'm not rushing into accusing you of total ignorance, AKkie. AAMOF, that's what you've been attempting to do to me. Maybe it's just you having made your mind up at the first sampling and rushing to a conclusion and sticking to it. Maybe it's you thinking that since my experiences have led to different conclusions than yours that there's no possible way I'm telling the truth or that I'm inable to comprehend and reach a conclusion as well as you. But both of those entail presumptive "reasoning" so I'll leave them as mere possibility without offering a probability percentage for either. :D
