I've downed many a buff trio with rockets from my 110. One salvo of 2 usually does the job, you've just got to remember they drop pretty quick, a bit like osti rounds. I guess one may work just as well but I've usually got it at 2 to finish off VH's after the eggs have landed.

Got a P47 in a TBM once with a single fired rocket. Hit him right in the spinner, and down he went.

Closer you are the less they drop, helps to be above, aiming down.

I'm surprised you do any ground damage with the rockets on a 110. The WGR21 rockets were time delayed for air to air use. They could be used as a mortar exploding above a ground target, but that was fairly rare.

I was in an F6F defending a base from a GV attack when a set of Lancs came in.  I was slightly above and behind them when I salvo'd my rockets.  Got two of the Lancs with the rockets and then the last with guns.

Pure luck though.

I don't know if I was in a F4U or a F6F, but I took off from a cv with rockets to hit the town. Before I got there though someone finished it off and we captured the base. I went to land when A C2 dove down on us and came straight for me. I was a little bored so I decided to go ahead and HO him. Forgot I still had rockets selected and shot my rockets at him and killed him! He'll think twice about going in Head-On again. :lol

I got a flight of low Lancs once with the rockets on my F4U-D... and thinking about bombs I remember watching Thndregg start a fight with a 190 or 109 in his Yak and the guy went to get light and the egg fell right on Eggs Yak as he passed under lol.. We had a good laugh about that one. :)

Killed a Lanc formation with rockets in a TBM once..

I hit a Pony with a single rocket from a F6F too. I was shooting at a GV from 4-5k when he went hauling bellybutton by on the deck. Looked like a heat seeker, very cool. Too bad it was a friendly.:(

I rarely go for true AtA hits with HVARs (have scored hits on occation though), but I do commonly down planes that are close enough to the deck to be within the bast radius.  Just the other day, I had a timid pony try to run away from me on the deck, so I lobbed a rocket ahead of them, and watched the pony explode when the rocket crater appeared under them.

This is a little off topic.

One day i was in a destroyer shelling a base and an nme plane was flying toward me. I took a shot at it and all 3 shells hit it from the 8 inchers in the back.

I got a good chuckle out of that....
