Special Event - Christmas Over Germany
« Reply #15 on: December 19, 2007, 09:35:54 AM »
I did some dogfighting in the 152 last night.

Total POS. I used to love it (before the airflow recoding) and used to fly it tons. Since the airflow recoding I've only dabbled in it for some bomber hunting, so I hadn't noticed how bad it is.

It's 5x worse than the old mossie was. You can't get into level flight, almost. Even if you GET to level flight, you pull up even gently as a baby, and you will fishtail ALL OVER the ***** place! FORGET freaking pulling angles and dogfighting, it's unstable in almost ALL situations!!!!! I had shots on a spitfire over half a dozen times but could NOT get a kill because I was fighting the plane 100% of the time! Oh, and this was IN trim, not out of trim! (I've got aileron and elevators mapped to axis on my throttle quadrant, easy peasy for me to adjust trim on the fly).

In the end I popped Mr spitfire, but only after closing to 40 yards dead astern, wasting most of my 30mm ammo and half my 20mm, I called it quits and went to land.

Only, wait, that's right! It's so damn unstable you CAN'T LAND it! Sweet, gentle, landing, came down perfectly... I'm using rudder to keep centered, I've pulled back, tail down, lock the wheel, hit the brakes button, and

yup

I teeter out of control, smash both wings into the ground and come to a rest with the shaking stutter that leads me to believe the Fw190 spontaneous explosion bug is about to take place. I tower out barely avoiding a spontaneous explosion, halfway off the runway. Luckily I was a hair more on the runway than off, and it was a safe landing.

Take a 109K4 or a 190D. Leave the crappy 152. It needs to be removed from the game until they FIX the problems they introduced. In AH1 it used to rock. In AH2 it was nerfed but flyable. In post 2.06 airflow recode, it's unflyable and unfightable.

The 325th should be able to make it with a 7-10 commitment. Best case scenario for us would be P-51 escort as that would be our historical "ride".
We look forward to this as last time was a blast! :aok
P.S. how many posts does it take to get rid of "junior member?" :furious

Guys, can we keep this thread "on topic" please. I know you guys just want to discuss things that you feel relevant to this event. (well sort of)

But i would like to keep this thread for squads to list their participation, and numbers they expect to attend.

Not trying to sound Bitc*y.

but, Please.....

You guys can start a new thread for this kind of stuff if you want.

BTW, I will look into the 152 issue, if true we may not use it.

Thanks

:)

JG11 would still like to fly the 152, even with the numerous modeling shortcomings.  Please do not remove from setup. Please.

Sled if you do find the Ta152 to be a complete POS like Krusty says please just leave The Muppets original request of k4s.

Note: Ill also do a few test in the 152 see how she handles.

So as not to clutter, I have started a separate thread:

http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=222173

Regarding issues with the Ta152's current flight model. I'm prone to a little exaggeration, but the majority of it's an accurate depiction of what I've seen lately while flying it.

I'm going to bump space request up to 6 for VMF-251. I've got 4 yesses already.

Side and ride request (Allies, P-51 preferred, P-38 otherwise) stands the same
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Lads and Ladies, I'll be the Host CM for this little party.

The goal is to simply have fun, snapshot style.  The formality of the FSO will benefit whichever side uses it to their advantage, but this is an informal event.

I will be asking that the sides are balanced, and will count on all the high profile leadership type of guys who are showing up to help push the walkons into sides that will benefit the events balance.

We also need 2 squads to put up an overall leader for each side.  I see a couple of names bouncing around in here that I'd love to see take the spot, but I won't poke and prod them much...yet... :)

I won't  be flying at all, I'll be enjoying a nice warm adult beverage and watching the fun, so anything you guys need during the event just yell and it'll happen.
ROC
Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.
