Thanks ROC and others who had a part in planning, hosting, and designing this snapshot.

Killuminati were watching you and picking the straggerls first.  Then when just three formations left, you huddled up nice and tight.  We decided to back off and climb at that point.  Then you fellas spread out again.  You ended up shooting our oil on 2 of our planes taking us out of the fight.  Nice job gunning!

A group of B17s won't survive long unless it has escorts or flies in perfect formation even while gunning.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

rated 0 on the success scale :cry

pegged the meter on the TON-o-fun scale. :D

First attack on a b17 formation in a 152, dove too fast everything shakes for a minute even with throttle at 0. Pass under the formatons and gently pull back on stick praying you have two wings when you come out of this. Still shaking pulling back, buffs now 3k behind you. Turn engine off and pull slightly harder, it reacts and the nose starts rising. Come over the top and slide behind some bombers 'completely distracted' by other fighters. Notice they arent as distracted as I thought and wonder where my right wing went.

Second flight ended again with no K,As asking if anyone had marshmallows, as my flaming wreckage fell to earth.

I even managed to collide with a B17 in one of those flights also, sorry 4440.

Seriously considering trying out FSOs if some squad would put up with this Pudding head.  :huh
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

I feel for you Sax.  Without the predistributed CiC orders and pre distirbuted Staffel orders, it is very difficult to "organize" a "snapshot" like event, with near FSO numbers.

I left most everything in the hands of my area kommanders, utilizing one text channel for Kommand comms.  We pretty much just decided to have fun with it.  Thanks to the Axis staffel CO's for wading through with me.

Fuzeman - FSO blows that away.  No comparison in the organization, immersion level, and 1 life is all the more intense.  You will really enjoy FSO, I am sure.  You are more than welcome to wing with the 11th JagdGeschwader, anytime sir.

On a personal level, from the cockpit, had a blast,  registered regular JG11 pilots took 25 scalps for 4 losses, with 33Vortex collecting 9, and myself with 7!

Thanks again to the CM staff for providing us with something other than the MA during the FSO holiday break.  This pilot is ready for the next Operation.  Thanks to all who showed.

Fly FSO.

You're not wrong here, definately was disorganized. The group that went for the southern target first did OK given that we managed to maintain a level of escort with the buffs until they hit the first target. After that things got chaotic as the Germans arrived with their second lives and picked them apart... The hardest thing to deal with were the bombers being separated into different groups. Even without coordination, as long as the escort groups know what to escort, and the bombers know where their target is and stick together, you can still have a level of success. Obviously not as much as full coordination though.

Where was RatmanCH?
I agree that we had little in the way of leadership, but given that we didn't have a CO step up until the last minute I don't think we can complain much. If we want to avoid a lack of leadership we need to step up individually and offer it when it's needed. I can't be angry at someone who did step up, into a difficult situation at the last minute and didn't succeed. Could someone else have done a better job with last minute command? Probably, but afterall it's a 1 frame snapshot basically, I'm OK with someone stepping up to get experience with it when it's a smaller event like this.

Either way, I had a great time, but a lot of that was TracerX taking the initiative and leading the escort group well and maintaining tabs on the bomber groups and enemies we were dealing with. We had a lot of success until the 2nd lifers showed up. I can't find too much fault with the snapshot itself that wasn't self-inflicted on us allies by ourselves.

participants, had a blast.

got a 1 ping pilot wound first life and dove out of the 30k fight but 1 p47 stuck with me looking for blood. [/B]
I suspect that was me but it certainly wasn't a one ping wound, unless someone else hit you before I hit you. I was surprised you weren't dead outright because I got about 8 centerline sprites. I assumed you were out of the fight and didn't pursue, given that someone else finished you with 2 more pings, I'd say at a minimum it was a 3 ping pilot wound :D

Good times guys

Sorry you had such a lousy time sax, but I am glad most had a good time.

We (my squad) had a good time. From about 10 minutes west of Frankfurt to about 10 minutes before we landed 109's and 190's were always in visual range. Many taking their time, lining up for a run, shadowing our bombers. Out of our 21 or so bombers only 5 landed. Piece by piece they worked us and cut us down. When I landed with 2 drones I had dead gunners and only my waist gunners had ammo. It was fun. :)

OK fuzeman, your the 4th CM in as many events to take me down. I am now certain that this is some sort of new guy CM hazing:rofl

Thank You many times over APDrone and Vlkyrie for helping me fumble through my first command. I am sure those who flew in my group saw the rookie in me. If I had opened mouth and inserted foot a week ago this may have been much different I suspect. Pays to be prepared. Sorry guys if I contributed to any of your displeasure of last nights event.

ROC  sign me up for that CO class if I can, cause apparently I could use it.

My biggest problem were people not following orders as far a power management. Several people who will remain nameless just took off and said to hell with the rest of you. And as for maintianing a formation, hell that never happened.

Please give me a my real squad who will follow orders. When you set 37 inches of man people should be able to stay close and not blow by to 6k ahead.

can anyone translate this, he clearly says my name but after stole my kill I can't read it anymore...it just doesn't make sense.

That was a lot of fun.  I got picked because of bad SA first flight but had a loooong running fight with some b17s at the end.   all!  :aok

Fly the 152 a little while in the TA, you'll see that happens sometimes if you're not ready for it.
