After kicking arse regularly in online poker tournaments today (won 4 of 5:D ) I've decided to pillage the Comanche Nation casino in Lawton, Oklahoma tomorrow.

Last night I went to the Comanche Nation casino (Exit 1 I-44) outside Lawton, OK and signed up for the Texas Hold 'em tourney. It is MUCH  different from playing online. It took me several hands to get up to speed. I was expecting video poker (which I have found at all the other border casinos) but found actual hands on cards playing. It was very exciting and distracting  as many of the players were familiar with each other and had a large amount of small talk.

I was doing well until the buyback break. After then my chips started to shrink. If I had a pair of Aces somebody had 2 pair. If I had 3 of a kind, someone had a boat. When I went all-in with $3000 I had trip Kings (pair of Kings with A-K-7-3 showing) and lost to a pair of pocket Aces. I finished 6th of 50.

Oh well, that's why they call it gambling.

...which begs the question...how much did you bring home?  Or did you wind up walking home  

Anyone else wondering why Championship Poker is carried by ESPN?  I was channel surfing a few nights ago and saw it on.  I was also intrigued at everyone wearing sunglasses and ball caps.

Boy, anything to hide that pokerface...it looked like a Witness Protection Program Reunion.

I lost $56 entry fee and $50 rebuy.

It was a learning experience. I got to know the regulars and how the tables run. Like I said, all the other casinos play video poker. CNC plays hands-on cards, which I prefer but have little experience. All in all I did'nt think I did too bad. 14 out of 50 in my first time out.

Wish we had poker tables here.  All we have is slot machines, the only place in the state that got the OK from the Legislature to do so.  A new, larger facility (Hollywood Slots) is under construction now.

I've only gone there a few times.  Each time, its carrying only a $20 bill, no credit cards, etc...one night I got up to about $1200 and eventually lost it all.  But hey, I had my $20 worth of fun.  One of my friends hit the jackpot on a machine, then had to give them his SSN to get his prize.  We were stumped, then groaned....taxes.

The biggest funder of the opposition to us having slot machines/gambling up here....Mohegan Sun, a huge casino in CT.  Word is that by having a casino so close to Canada and the North Eastern most US, they are losing $50 million a year of business that they would've received, being the only casino in the region.  Greedy, aint they?  They donated millions to the super devout religious groups that didnt want a casino in their state.

I hate slots. Video poker is'nt bad. But I prefer Vegas style live gaming.

Good news is I learned they have craps on Fri/Sat/Sun. Bad news is I work those days.

I plan on going back in January. It's a 2 hour drive each way and my truck gets 12mpg. I have to win $100 just to break even on gas. In the meantime I'm brushing up my Hold'em game on FullTilt.

ahh man, i know how that feels but less money involved. last time i played poker with some friends we all staked a cash buy in that came to around £100 althogether.(big money to me)

the very first hand of the whole match i went all in with a flush king high in spade right off the flop. girl opposite me took the whole pot with the Ace. damn it damn it damn it. I ended up buying in again for £20 but never made my money back from the first hand.

thats the buzz of poker for me along with bluffing and mind games, knowing your hand kicks arse but waiting to see if its enough.

Sounds like a blast.
I used to get together with mates to play $1($1 to open, $1 bets) 5card stud in Adelaide, the pot could get quite high (I netted just over $150 once, that's a whole lot of coins!), but apart from that I don't gamble. I have a hard time even putting the lotto on.
The one time I did walk into a casino I was very drunk. I put the last remaining $1 in my pocket into a poker slot and got enough to move on to the blackjack table. I walked out drunker than ever with ~$200 in the skyrocket, and have never returned.

It seems true to me, cause walking in here, I can hardly remember how I built my bankroll, but I can't stop thinking about the way I lost it.

We've been up to Durant a few times. The casino there is pretty nice and often has a live band but no alcohol. Only an hour drive for us.
