Guess I mis-worded that there. Either that or I just wasnt thinking when I posted it. Both explanations are plausible.

Method A

1. Take off
2. Climb to about 15k
3. Approach target area
4. Enter dive into furball 10k below you. Do not reduce throttle
5. Auger into the ground.

Repeat steps 1-5

Method B

1. Take off
2. Climb to average altitude
3. Approach target area at roughly equal altitude, or a slight advantage.
4. HO first target
5. Extend one sector, then reverse
6. HO next target
7. Extend one sector, then reverse
8. HO next target
9. Extend one sector, then reverse
10. HO next target
11. If at any point an enemy reverses and is on your tail, proceed to drag them. Immediately after your opponent pulls off, reverse for a shot at their back. Repeat as needed until you get a HO, or your opponent runs of of gas due to his inability to run you down, or successfully disengage because of your speed.
12. If pursued by multiple enemies, run to the nearest friendly Horde, pack of Ostwinds, or field ack

Method B seems to be the average to most people. You did forget to add if the person HO'sbad and the Lghay dies that he crys on 200.

LA's are easy to kill but it's hard to kill them if their 10K higher  then every one or their runing and only turn back on you if you break off.

For example I have 111 kills of LA7(the highest of planes i shot down) and only died by the hands of an LA7 23 times...do the math. For people that cant

111/23 = 4.82K/D

You haven't run into a decent La-7 driver yet. If you had, you would have found that the La-7 eats Tempests for breakfast. I rarely fly the La-7 in the MAs, but I do teach guys how to utilize its amazing speed, climb and outstanding maneuverability.

1v1, I'll take the La-7 every time.

Moreover, this is not just opinion. Some time ago, two of the game's best sticks flew a series of duels in the DA to determine which fighter was best head to head. They switched back and forth. Regardless of which pilot flew the Tempest, the La-7 won every duel.

My advice? Be careful with La-7s. Sooner or later you will run into a top tier pilot flying one.

Yup. I fly the Tempest a lot and the La7 still occasionally.

When it comes to a knife fight, you better dispose the La7 quickly with your hizookas, or you will be in huge trouble. Of course, that's only as long as the La7 pilot knows his business, which is luckily not the norm ;)

BTW, there is a sweet spot just below 7k, where a non-wep Tempest is about 11mph faster than a La-7 with wep engaged. If you have to run, err... disengage, try to reach that altitude. However ridiculuous and lame it may sound, but I have sucked many, many greedy La pilots into chasing me at that altitude untill their tanks ran dry. With usually some colourful mesages following on CH200...

Which isn't that likely, I've only ever come across one good stick in a La7 on a constant basis and that was Shane.

Same deal goes for spits.
