just watched this film

the cgi is good and the other effects like a empty new york but its just a fancy remake of the old film called Omega man with charlton heston.

Was dissapointed really was hoping for something new not just a remake.

You thought it was gonna be more than a remake?

Havn't you realized that movie makers and singers have nearly run out of their own ideas?  Seems like 90% of all 'new' movies and songs are simple remakes of older ones.

This story has so much potential, turning it into another vampire/zombie flick pissed me off a lot.  The film was way too short as well.  They could have made it 2 1/2 hours and really gotten into it.

The Omega Man was much better, although Smith is really the only actor today who could play this roll.  Just his presence saved the film.

I didn't like the happy ending.  It doesn't go with what the "legend" in the movie's title is supposed to stand for.

Terrible Rendition of the story. Typical hollywood in the worst way. Even the CGI was unorginal.

I'm sorry for anyone paying theater pricing to see this.

Even the Asylum direct-to-video ripoff I am Omega was a hell of alot better movie.

There was just something about Charlton Heston's gun loving performance and defiance of a "new order" in The Omega Man that I really liked.

Haven't seen it, but from what I've gathered the movie departs so far from the original book that the only thing it actually shares is the title.

...which was a remake of a truly campy movie named "The Last Man on Earth", starring Vincent Price.

Charlton Heston was perfect.   They really didn't need to do the obligatory negro version.

Heston was not only ten times the actor but the movie was fresh and original.   Every time I see a "remake" of something good I have the urge to shout..

"Hey... I'm still here ya know."

I didnt want to resurect this thread but I felt I should if I can save just one person from seeing this movie it will have been worth it.

If you read the book and or saw The Omega Man,  stay away or wait for the DVD... I left the movie feeling cheated...

Its not a bad movie, its just wrong.  Stang pretty much nailed it though... they could have done so much better...

omega man was a remake too!!!!

check it out on wikipedia or imdb.com

I think the first film was just "last man on earth" or something similar and apparently it stayed closest to the book which they are all based on.

"and knowing is half the battle!  GI JOE!!!!"

8/10

::and it looks like sim had already said it, dang.  anyways thought it was funny to point out the "fresh and new" wasn't fresh and new at all.

I am very aware that The Omega Man was a remake,  I saw it at a drive-in theater when I was about 11 or 12 when it was first released.   Of course at the time I didnt know but learned later... I've never seen the Vincent Price verison although I might have and am not aware of it ( I used to stay up late and watch all the sifi and creature features on late night TV)

wasn't really responding to anyone elses post but laz; his came off as racist somewhat, not sure if he meant to.  but i didn't really need to say anything to begin with, someone above already had clarified that it was not the original.

Anyone know the title of the original film before Omega man? It might be fun to find it and watch it.

A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."
