smoke in cockpit
« on: December 22, 2007, 02:37:52 AM »
I think we need smoke in cockpit after taking rounds in engine. nothing worse than putting rounds on target and think the guy is going down to find same guy puting rounds in your back side.zero is a good sample, thing is roman candle and the guy is still fighting, in the real world the guy would be doing all he could to get out and not burn to death. just my two cents

actually not a bad idea, puffs of ah "smoke" to cloud vision, especially with oil / radiator hits. make it so an oil hit isn't just some gunk on the window you can maybe learn to work around.

I don't know if the game mechanics make it possible, or impossible, but a good idea. :aok
I don't know what to put here yet.

I think it's set just fine plus doubt AH will hear your plea.

Eng oil is enough. If you cant kill him and just smoke him then he comes back and kills you   too bad...your fault  and his skill.

It's very hard to see through the oil and takes twice as much concentration to get a kill that way.

It's not going to happen and you'll be back in school in a week anyway

I think smoke and fire in the cockpit is a good idea, the more realistic the better, and yes Hitech will here his plea.

Smoke effect would be cool, add to that operating canopy.
On topic, I was thinking the other day that it waould also look good to make the cockpit glass look more like glass. Cockpit frames and bullet holes aside, it kinda looks like open air, specially noticable in P51D.

I'd like to see more realistic pilot wounds. Since when can a pilot get blood on the canopy, but somehow, amazingly, not get the instruments dirty with blood?

Oil on the cockpit is good enough.

Also, shouldn't this thread have been posted in the "Wish List" section?

Tack this onto the already long list of things asked of a more advanced damage system. I'd rather see planes that are badly damaged lose some performance than gain some eye candy. My plane is on fire, the oil system is hit, and my pilot is hit hard enough to spray gore in all directions, but can still put his plane in perfect trim while passing out, then fully recover a few seconds later and continue to fight? Sweet!

What about when two 20mm or 13mm rounds heat the instrument panel? What is happening? Normally you loose some gauges But nothing happens during the game.

I think it's ok how it is (not that I ever fly).  But if you add bloody instruments, who's to say you shouldn't be able to wipe them off, which a pilot would be able to do.  One 'what if' just leads to another.

If the aircraft is on fire, I think smoke in the cockpit is a great idea. If it will partially blind the pilot and limit his vision, then it will be a more historical representation.

I would like to see airplanes on fire lose some control, in other words, behave like an airplane engulfed in flames would.
