Why is the Spitfire known better than the Hurricane?  The Hurricane actually had more kills in the war and a much better Kill/death ratio.  IMO it's a much better aircraft aswell, yet you don't hear much about it. It's always the Spitfire in regards to RAF aircraft.

- Probably most important: War time propaganda on both sides of the channel
- Spitfire went on to fight in more prominent roles throughout the war than the Hurricane

- The Spitfire's part in early war may have been exaggerated, but it's not entirely true that the Hurri was the "better plane". It's only in AH2 ;)
It was not quickly replaced by the Spit in the day fighter role without a reason.

Well hey we all know after playing AH2 that the Hurricane's wings aren't held on by duct tape and bubble gum much like the Spit's wings are. :lol

Why don't you just use Firefox then, it has a built in spell check that works just like the spell check in MS Word.  I find it quite useful myself.

I would have to say the Stuka was the most well known in Europe as the Lightning war swept the continent. Thos dive sirens were terror weapons. But since that's not a fighter, the 109 was built in greater numbers than any other plane in the war.

Spitfire for the Brits.

Mustang for the Yanks.

Zeke for Japan.

Overall....probably the 109 because, if you think about it, every country in the war faced it at some point.

1.   Lazy grammar aside in your first post.
2.   You probably meant "around when the..."
3.   You SHOULD know the answer to this one, as you have often self-proclaimed to be a "hot shot in AH."

4.   Stop being so lazy, you won't like the results in life.

I know academy in Fort collins did a survey among active duty pilots in the 80's including european countries. And asked them which plane was famous and why, I'f I remember right it was 109 first, spitfire follow by b24 liberator and then mustang.

I agree about.. someodd %

I think that the worldwide most known plane was probably either the Mustang (D model) or the Zero.

The Mustang saw service for not just the U.S. but also for many other allied nations. The Zero, well, I think most everyone knows about that pain in the ***
