Must be me, but il2 always seems to need to arm a little higher. Also it seems 500lb can be dropped lower than 1000lb. Like I said, must be me.

I bet you release your bomb when you see the GV's icon at 600... But as pointed out earlier in this thread, that's yard, not feet.
You wouldn't be able to pull up if divebombing "straight down" at 600 feet (=200 yard.)

The Il-2 usually is flying much slower than any fighter, so the horizontal travel component is smaller.

there has to be some way to test this. if i show a film coming straight down on a gv and bomb it at 600 feet that should show how far the bomb traveled before hitting target right???? if so i will film it so i can see this and know how far it really travels :aok
At least a year in game, over 1,000 posts on the BBs and he still hasn't realized distances of icons in AH are in yards.  lol.

Imagine dropping a bunch of 1000k eggs with 1 minute delayed fuses on the tarmac area out front of the Vhanger.  Then stirring the hornets nest by damaging the hanger and bringing out a dozen ostis lol

Stang,

Read your sig line, it just about sums it all up for you.  There is no reason to be rude he realized his error and acknowledged it already.  There is nothing constructive froom your post.

Only delayed fuses I am aware of from WWII were slight delays on AP bombs so they'd blow inside the ship rather than on the armored deck and Mossies doing very, very low level attacks using bombs with a 12 second delay so they wouldn't blow themselves up.

Long delay mechanical and chemical (acid) fuses were used on London and other Brit cities to create more casualties by detonating hours or even days after being dropped.

How far it takes to arm partially depends on how fast your going.

If your in a val, and dead slow, better figure the 1k, in a Diving hawg, 600 will likely work just fine.
