A lot of great free-for-all rooms. The fights were literally happening right over the field, so you didn't have to fly anywhere to start having fun. Vulching and BNZ'ing was generally looked down on, and since the host had the power to boot people, vulchers and BNZ'ers were generally booted from the room.
You could manipulate ammo and fuel, so you could conceivably take off and fight without ever running out of ammo and fuel. Not very realistic, but it sure cut out a lot of downtime.
It was a good place to go and find a quick fight if you got tired of the usual MA dweebery; or if you just didn't feel like climbing up to 10k and flying for 10 minutes before you found a fight.
Of course, all this assumes that you had a good host. TA57, Merlin, acmkraft (Domin), and Police (I think that's what his name was) all usually had pretty good rooms going.
Edit:
Team rooms sucked, though. They usually consisted of the host stacking the teams in his/her favor and then clubbing whatever baby seals happened to be on the other team.
