Regia Aeronautica planes needed!
« on: January 22, 2008, 12:56:31 AM »
Regia Aeronautica planes please CR.42 G.50 G.55 MC.200 Re.2005 CR.25 SM.79 SM.81.  While I am gald that the Regia Aeronautica is represented in the MC.202 and MC.205, I believe there could be more done to flesh out the Italian plane set.  Imagine an FSO set in Afrika.

Ok scrutinize away.

I'd love to see the SIAI Marchetti S.M.79 Sparviero:

And the Piaggio P.108 B:

Another Italian fighter and a S.M. Sparviero are the top on my list.

It would fulfill two wishes in one: more Italian aircraft AND an axis transport.

Now what is wrong with the above panes to induce the title hangar queen?  What particularly is wrong with the Serie 5 aircraft that were desighned around the license built DB.605 (Re.2005 & G.55)?  There are those that would fly the birds listed above in my original post.  I know I would.

CR.42: Yes
G.50: Yes
G.55: No  (extremely low production, minor combat service and we already have that covered by the C.205)
MC.200: Yes
Re.2005: No (extremely low production, minor combat service and we already have that covered by the C.205)
CR.25: No (Need the Ju-52, other than that we don't need transports really as the C-47 covers USA, UK, USSR and Japan and Ju-52 would cover Germany and Italy)
SM.79: Yes
SM.81 No (Slot would be covered by the SM.79-II)

Wasn't the Sm. 79 also a troop carrier? So we could kill 2 birds with one stone. :aok

Yeah, we sure do need those two aircraft because you like em.  So you are
basically looking for a mid-war german aircraft in Italian clothing.  As for the
others, medium bombers with peashooters sure see alot of action in the
arenas.

So we're looking at a scenario where the Regia Aeronautica fought 12th or
15th AFs in miniscule numbers instead?

It's your dime, wish for whatever you want...but I hardly think these birds
deserve a high priority in any case.

...... honestly, the only hangar queens for me are all fighters, and i dont bomb that much, everyone calls the b25c a queen, i use it. same with the ju-88, stuka, ki-67, b5n...... (need i go on?) and i know there are more than me that agree

also, a couple tours back, the Pigs on the Wing could tell you that i flew the ju-88 religiously... the peashooters did their job well, took down 2 temps, more than 7 spits, and a couple others ^_^

all i have to say after that is check, your move. :p

The Italian birds have a bad rap because they are not "uber" enough for the "Main Arenas".  How have we come to expect only the hottest aircraft, toting the most cannon of the largest caliber to be added in this game?  Thsi is a WWII era sim, not just a spitfire and LA7 sim.  The Italian rides are nimble machines of war, I greatly enjoyed the MC.200, CR.42, and G.50 in the IL2 serries of games for the fun they offer in dogfights as opposed to the "hotrods".  The lack of cannon should not be grounds to deem any plane a "hangar queen" when with .30 or .50 caliber is plenty enough to down an aircraft.  It just requires accuracy and patience.  These planes as I said are a treat to fly, and are sorely needed to fill in the Italian plane set.

I await the next anti-Italian post

I'd have much fun flying a S.M. 79 over a C-47 anyday.

The Axis side can really be where the fun's at a lot of the time.
