You are the "exception" ... not the "rule".

I think that they have a place in the LWAs too.

I just took a quick look at the numbers. EW planes (that is, planes that are unperked in EW arena) accounted for 21665 kills in LW arenas in last tour.

If you add the ones available in EW at a perk price, the number rises to over 40000.

Not true, one of the B5N2s was returned to base in "like new" condition with three successful bombstrikes from it.

The rest, well, yeah....  :p I also discovered that I have no idea what to do about an A6M5b when flying the Spitfire MK I.

I did legitimately shoot down a P-47N with a D3A1 though.  The other kill it says I have in it was a proximity kill.

One squadron had their war weary Hurricane Mk IICs replaced by brand new bubble canopy Spitfire Mk XIVs in 1945 to give an idea of some of the tranistions that happened late in the war in the CBI theater.

its not the rides that are bothersome, its the HO/run mentality.  I upped last night and flew to enemy field.  I saw a pony lower than me and flying at a right angle to me.  I came in and was going to strafe him from nose to tail on the left side.  I saw him breaking but couldnt tell his intentions until too late.  He pulled as hard as he could to put us nose to nose.  I had more speed and didnt avoid the (collision bubble) and down I went.

That being said, it is all I find these days.  A person flying around who cares nothing about "fighting", just wanting to HO and run all for the sake of his squad possibly taking some virtual dirt!

Last night the knights had to fly aircraft with an ENY greater than 27.  So did the rooks, probably.  Without the early war planes we would've just been sitting in the hangars.:lol

I used to have the same problem and posted about it here.  It's a monitor/resolution problem that does not reflect your skill as a pilot or your attitude toward head-on merges.  I posted about it here to see what sort of advice I could get, and after getting flamed multiple times about being an HO whiner by people who have little reading comprehension, someone gave me the good advice to use the zoom feature a lot more often.  The problem has mostly been solved since then.

Well let's see.  Last night I upped a Spit V, and landed a 4 kill sortie.  When ENY hit 17, I had three sorties in a Hurricane IIC.  K/D ratio of 7/1, and I landed 2 of those 3 sorties.  Killing Spit 16's, 8's, Niki's, Ki-84's, Mossie's, and P-51's, all without a HO shot

Don't dis the EW rides in the LW arena, cause a hot stick(and I'm not one) can still PWN JOO N00BS!!!!1

lol... when I logged on last night ENY was at 23+.  I hopped in a 190A-8, ran down a low Pony D and got in a turn-fight with him.  As soon as I got him to turn I yanked the nose around, dumped all 3 notches of flaps and was gaining on him on the inside.  After several flat rotations 2 friendlies showed up and finished him off.  Wish I would have gotten to fight that one out.  I did get the assist for the initial hits that got him turning though.

Not an EW or even MW ride but definately not HOing in it either.  I love pushing those A-8's to their limits in turn fights.  No one ever expects it!

Question about the Late War arenas

I ended up flying all three countries yesterday in Blue.  Started Bish in the afternoon (had the day off) as their numbers were low.  Took a break.  Came back and Knits were low.  Went Knits.  Took a break.  Came back later Rooks were low.  Went Rooks.  They all fly the same btw.  The other team is always higher, flying LAs and N1Ks, HO'ing and running.  Funny to see all the same complaints.

Had a blast fighting the mob in my 38G the entire time.   I like the challenge of flying a less then uber big target into the mob to see how many I can take with me before I die.  So far the 38G of Corky's doom seems to be doing OK against the latewar birds.

Whats funny is that when I see something besides an LA7, N1K, Spit XVI or P51D, I turn to them first as they seem like they'll be more of a threat.  And if it's an early or midwar bird, it generally is.  FM2s, Ki-61s F4U-1 or 1A, etc

Doh, and here I thought the guys who are always picking my -1A out of the crowd were just looking for the easier kill!!!

Keep track for a bit.  If it's a 1-D it will generally be a far easier fight then anyone in a -1 or -1A.  At least in my experience those are the guys that really move the Corsair around and eat me up.
