All in all it exeeded my expectations.
got a bit long winded though and was probably about 15 minutes longer then it could have been.

Not a bad speach. Nor a bad assessment.

His best line was about taxes where he said something like.

"Some say they wouldnt mind paying more.
to that I welcome your enthusiasm.
The IRS accepts both checks and money orders"

Based on the reactions of both sides to some of his stated goals I see bush as having a real oppotunity to make the Democrats hate them even more then they do now.

By taking those issues that are near and dear ot both sides and pushing for them to get  through. He can end the year and his presidency on a positive note.

Permanently reducing troop levels can steal alot of the Democrats thunder.
His plan for withdrawal is the only responcable one that can be done.
no matter who wins the election. If the troops are to start comming home. Thats about the only way I see of doing it.

yeah... If bush would have done any of the things he said he would over the last 8 years it would be a lot freer country today.

Nice of him to espouse principals of freedom on the way out tho.

smaller government..  less spending.. more tax cuts for everyone..  veto spending bills...  school vouchers.. no new gun grabs..  all these things he could have done something about for 8 years..

still..  he got us two good supreme court guys and he slowed the gun control nuts down big time...  and.. he held off the whole man made global warming nut bags till they are looking a lot weaker.

and that makes him about 100% better than the other choices we had when he was elected.   Think about that you protest voters.

you will get what you want in billary or osamabama..   It will be just as bad as you hope.   just...  be careful what you wish for.

I got through about 10 minutes of it before I could no longer stand the applause and the standing ovations.  It gets old too quickly.  I might have to find a transcript to see what I missed.

His best line was that for those who feel we are not paying enough taxes....

He was pleased to report that the IRS takes checks or money orders.

I love how one well put together speech that is filled with everything we want to hear can change how mosts feel about their president.

The same guy that suspended habeas corpus.

OK, so I'd give Bush probation for Iraq and Cheney 13 years and a month for stealing god knows how much money from our people through several different illegal schemes. :aok

Just so you know before you carry on, I do not consider myself Democrat.:aok

Problem is. by only voting for one party or the other. Only insures we continue to loose our rights and freedoms little by little from one side or the other as I stated in another thread each stripping them away little by little from the outside in.
The right takes some. then the left takes some. and so on and so forth

Keep electing only one of the current big two and the only assurance you have is your freedoms will continue to erode.

Then when there is nothing left. You can stand up and proudly say that when you had the chance to make a change when there is was still time. You voted to do nothing!
