According to the data, the model F5 of F6 have 2 different armament configuation:

1. 6 x 0.5 caliber machine guns with 400 rounds/gun
2. 2 x 20mm cannon 225 rounds/gun , 4 x 0.5 caliber machine guns with 400 rounds/gun

Because we own F5 model not F3, Could me have these opitions...

F6F is a great plane, handles nicely and could really have some fun with those Zekes. I would definitely enjoy seeing an upgrade on it's configurations.

This probably won't happen for the same reason we are unlikely to see four cannon Spits, because the option was hardly ever used in real life. The nightfighter Hellcat used the cannons, but that had a heavy, draggy radar dome hung under one wing.

In previous cannon Hellcat threads I've yet to see anyone come up with a photo or a text reference to cannon equipped Hellcats being flown in anger or equipping a front line squadron, except for nightfighters.
OTOH we do have the 3 cannon La-7, which was an extremely rare aircraft in the war.

HTC have also mentioned a perk ordnance system is in the works. You would pay perk points for unusual ordnance and gun options. So maybe we'll see stuff like this then. Personally I hope not, I prefer to see the planes modelled as close as possible to how they flew in RL.

I think that perk system for "rare" configurations would be neat. At least it's something to spend those perks on.

T'would be great but it would make no sense unless some serious revamping in night combat would take place like a different radar system and much lower icon visibility range.

Therefore there's really no point for a night-fighter Hellcat and no need for the 20mm armament. This game's about what entered combat in the most common/standard configuration. No 20mm on Hellcats. Please use the search button

Lastly, it's not F6-F5. It's F6F-5. It bothers me to see the former published on websites all over the place. Not even Wikipedia makes that mistake. But don't worry, it's not bad for you it's just annoying when published sources have it.

F = The Naval term for 'Fighter'
6 = Sixth of this type (in this case, fighter) to be built by the company
F = The Naval code for the Hellcat's company; Grumman.
5 = The fifth variant of the F6F; a figure represented and separated by a hyphen.

Similary, you'll encounter other Naval codes. For types, we have SB = scout bomber, PB = Patrol Boat, TB = Torpedo bomber and the list goes on.

Company codes include: A = Brewster, C= Curtiss, D = Douglas, F= Grumman, G= Goodyear, H= Hall, U= Vought etc.
