New hotpad in middle of runway
« on: February 12, 2008, 10:13:10 AM »
Give us another hotpad halfway down the runway. Or make the big pad on every field a hotpad zone (maybe? Maybe not).

Takes too long to taxi from the middle of a runway all the way to the end (and even worse when you find out your runway doesn't have a hotpad at that end!!!!)

We need something in the middle area to rearm.

HT's answer will probably be the same as for the request to have the cursor disappear when unused... "just move it".
Why don't you just land near the rearm pads we already have?  I either land extra short and reverse when I miss by a few feet, or land on the taxi-way when there is one leading up to the pad.

Some folks like instant death-match play. I don't. I take enough fuel for a decent length sortie. I plan on being able to patrol more than just to the nearest furball (20mi away).

I'm not gaming the game by using hotpads. I just like longer sorties, even if I don't have that many kills. If I'm in a plane I like, having fun, and have no damage, I'll hotpad.

Unless I want to switch the skin I'm using :D

What does moving or adding rearm pads do to improve gameplay?

What does having planes spawn on the runways do Or what does having GV spawn points do? Nothing.

But it's sure a lot more helpful than spawning in the hangar, going through a 30-minute startup, warmup, taxi, park, load, get in, and fly away routine.

It's a convenience

I'd like to see them get rid of GVs being able to sit indefinitely on the re-arm pads and have an unlimited supply of fuel, ammo, and constantly being repaired before they even THINK of adding MORE rearm pads.

Wrong, Denholm. I've seen turretless and smoking Flaks and M16s roll onto the rearm pads and stopped smoking and got their turrets back.

Because they had supplies nearby.
You can rearm, but not repair on a reload pad.

GVs shouldn't get to use hotpads, IMO. But planes should (and do), and there wouldn't be much harm in doing something around mid-field. It takes a few minutes to taxi across a field slow enough that you don't damage yourself in some way. It's easy to just re-up, but again, where's the fun?

I still dont get it - why does it take you so long to taxi to ream pad? Why do you land so far away from it???
