Oh boy, think I just opened a can of worms...
« on: February 13, 2008, 11:32:59 AM »
a family member just sent this email to the family mailing list...
Quote
Subject: Beliefs of a Good Democrat

1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on
demand.

2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments
create prosperity.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans
are more of a threat than nuclear weapons technology in the hands of
Chinese and Korean communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are more affected by
soccer moms driving SUV's than cyclical, documented changes in the
earth's climate.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being
homosexual is natural.

7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of
federal funding.

8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach fourth
graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about
sex.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature but loony
activists who have never been outside of San Francisco, do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually
doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own
money to make "The Passion of the Christ" for financial gain.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts
of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain
parts of the Constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too
high.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more
important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Edison, and
A.G. Bell.

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist but racial
quotas and set-asides are not.

16. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very
sweet person.

17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked
anywhere it has ever been tried is because the right people haven't been
in charge.

18. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail,
but a liar and sex offender belongs in the White House.

19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag,
transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and
manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

20. You have to believe that illegal, Democrat Party funding by the
Chinese Government is somehow in the best interest to the United States.

21. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right
wing conspiracy.

22. You have to believe that it's okay to give Federal workers Christmas
Day off but it's offensive to say "Merry Christmas."

My reply:

funny, but I'm sure there's a version of this poking
fun at "our side" (in quotes 'cause I'm sick of partizan bull****..)

(this is off the top of my head...)

1.  You have to believe that the lives of unborn American
babies are sacred, yet the lives of Iraqi civilians are a
dime a dozen.

2.  You have to believe that social welfare programs are
dragging us down the road to socialism, yet somehow
corporate welfare (subsidies) are the keystone of democracy.

3. You have to believe that the entitlement system is
bankrupting this great country of ours, yet borrowing money
from china to fund foreign entanglements is somehow going
to help.

4.  You have to believe that your right to own a gun is
more worthy of protecting than my right to free speech is.

5.  You have to believe that the only people who value
their privacy have something to hide.

6.  You have to believe that a little collateral damage in
the name of the War on Drugs is worth it, 'cause we're
winning!

7.  You have to believe that deflating the dollar by
printing more whenever we run out isn't a problem for the
average American, because as long we're earning dollars
and spending dollars, what's the difference!

I'll stop there because this is depressing me...  Suffice it
to say, neither "side" impresses me all that much.

luv y'all...

I'm sure I'll get shat on all day for that, but oh well...  People who live in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones...

I wouldn't worry about it. No one really expects Democrats to have common sense.

please reference the city of new orleans for an accurate account of how decades of government entitlements can actually destroy an entire city.

not at all, I hope that's not how it came across.  I was trying to point out that hypocrisy isn't exclusive to the Democratic Party, not bait anyone...

true dat...  New Orleans is also a good example of the uselessness of our gun collections and how the good 'ol boys bent over and turned them in when ordered to do so.

nice... so, Ron Paul = The Professor?

Mr./Mrs. Howell = Romney/Clinton?
Ginger = Giuliani
MaryAnne = Huckabee

Actually, I think Obama would be a better MaryAnne, Huckabee can be Gilligan...
