Wow....if the guy wants to get elected, this is the sort of thing that could make him a powerhouse candidate.

McCain suddenly looks feeble.....will need to study this development further

It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

He said he would support federal legislation based on a California law that would facilitate immediate tracing of bullets used in a crime.

How does that help?:huh ... The idea is to prevent gun crime, keep the guns out of the hands of the bad guys...

Although Obama supports gun control, while campaigning in gun-friendly Idaho earlier this month, he said he does not intend to take away people's guns.

At his news conference, he voiced support for the District of Columbia's ban on handguns, which is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court next month.

"The notion that somehow local jurisdictions can't initiate gun safety laws to deal with gang bangers and random shootings on the street isn't born out by our Constitution," Obama said.

Yeah, Obama isnt the real deal here.   He is being misleading.  Just read the details and its all over.  Oh well....was thinking maybe the guy really is a progressive new thinker but apparently he is just a new box with the same old liberal inside.

He's lying.  A democratic senator from Illinois, which has some of the strictest gun control in the US, is lying when he says that he believes in an Individual's right to gun control.  Especially one who has voted against the right gun bills in the past.

The words "common sense legislation" quoted in that article was a deal
breaker for me.  There is simply no such thing.

Obama is trying to avoid the gun control poison pill from the NRA by sucking up to the 2nd amendmant. Californias microstamping law is gun control by controling the availability of ammunition. Ammo manufactuers cannot afford to tool up to microstamp all ammunition going into kali. So the industry will just write kali off. Police in kali get their ammo through other means. So do criminals.

This is just another flip flop in the grand tradition of kerry and just as disingenuous. It's a great example of do anything and especially say anything to get the power, then do as you want.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Obama supports the 2nd every bit as strongly as a Kennedy, Bloomberg or Arnie.

Ban nationally CCW
Ban Semi automatics
Microstamping
Close the nonexistant gunshow loophole

Not that hunters and sportsmen wouldn't be allowed their Italian O/U shotguns, or those quaint deer hunter folk a black powder or bolt gun. You know, just like it says about hunting rights in the 2nd Amendment.

Hillery is actually a Charlton Heston by comparison.

Why sure. All he wants to do is mandate a non-existant technology that would make it impossible to possess firearms that don't have the non-existant technology.

Gore would probably not want to take peoples internal combustion cars away from them, but would gladly mandate that only cars that run on matter-antimatter engines be allowed to be used as transportation.

errr.......

Well if they restrict guns, it wont stop the criminals from not having em....
If the criminals are gonna break the law anyways, i dont think having a gun is that big of a deal.
