Started in a SpitV, now to be found flying in a Spit IX (with pink skin) - so if you see it flying around, its more than likely me. Fly other planes, but I'm a Brit, love the sound and sight of a spit - go figure.

Spit IX in in Beta Tour 1, then signed up at the end of Tour 4.  The Spitfire Mk VIII and XIV are both on my favorites list.

Spitfires have been my favorite aircraft since I got into the WWII aviation hobby in the 1980s long before we had computers capable of anything like AH, WB or AW.

Started off in a FW190A-8 many, many moons ago when a large portion of this community was still in diapers or just a glimmer in their daddy's eyes.

Spit when I first started in Airwarrior, but went to the 38J as the guys I enjoyed flying with were in 38s.  38L when I came to AH and now the 38G almost all the time with the J mixed in when I feel the need for WEP :)

I started in the 109 G-14. I moved onto the Dora for a while after that. I stick with the Luftwaffe rides mostly as I like to fight nose-up whenever possible.

I went on to the 109K4 for a long time and got used to the 30mm cannon. Close-quarters fighting is the most fun for me and the Allied rides don't provide the same ability in close, I don't think.

I'm back on the Dora at the moment, though I fly it differently to when I started in it. It is a good challenge when you actually dogfight in it.

It's also good for fighting alone, which I've been doing a little lately due to some odd hours I've been working and flying. The Dora allows ine to fight and still disengage when the numbers become overwhelming.

Without squadies for help that can be a big advantage when flying alone.

P51D.  I asked around how the autoclimb worked, set it to 130mph thinking it might climb faster.  Before I was done setting up my views, a furball started nearby, so I joined in, trying to get my first kill.
Having a bit more altitude, I got to gain an angle on the bogie pretty quick, but not knowing how to lead a moving target, I KS'd myself on the second friendly trailing it - HiTech.

I  suggest to the  newbs , the n1k2, for the fun factor, (lotsa cannon, turns great, ect). Plane is easy to have some fun in.

I flew A6m's for the first 4 years.  Granted I experimented with other planes. But I kept coming back to the Japanese plane set.

Once I made the switch to Aces High with no JP planes here, I floundered for a while. Even had a tour where I flew nothing but 190a5. Eventually got into the C.205, then the LA7, LA5Fn,  and  the yak.

I do seriously advise that anyone learning should start out in something that turns. Master the turn first, then start moving up.  WWII pilots actually started flying in big, slow stearman biplanes. Then transitioned up into the At-6 texan.

Even then they didn't jump directly into p51's or P47s. But spent time in p40's and the like before upgrading into the good birds.

I'm not saying that you can't jump straight into a pony or jug and learn it and succeed. I'm just saying chances are the frustration levels will be much much higher for longer. But there are exceptions to every rule.

I started out in a LA7 like most noobs and hoed anything in front of me that was red. I moved to P51,YAK and some other boring planes before I seen the light. Now all I do is fly the BEST fighter/light bomber eva...P38 of course.
When I die bury me in a P38.

I watch day after day, week after week, tour after tour, the Bishops and Rooks take bases and win maps while the Knights stand there with their thumbs stuck in their butts. It's just pathetic!

I don't know if this counts, but I started out in the F4U-1D - flying Warbirds 2.3 or 2.4 offline.  I flew about a 1000 hours in the offline furball game before going online.
