I won't vote for McCain either. As I've stated earlier, there are only two people I would vote for without blinking an eye. That's Ron Paul and Colin Powell, but Powell is too smart to run. I really wish I could write-in someone for President in my state.

I think you are getting too caught up in the semantics of identification of ones self. Yes, we are all American and yet we are all different. I think it is important to know where your ancestors came from and what they had to face to make it in this country. Relating that to religion is seemingly what Obama's church does. What is wrong with practicing Christianity through an African perspective? It is no better or worse than other religious worship centers.

Obama is a good speaker and a fine looking man , he has a lot of good help around him to make sure he is alway's cast in a good light, women faint at his rallies as if he was the second coming of the lord! but does he have the ability to lead this country? i dont know, and no one else does either.
if we "don't" elect him now, he will have 8 more years to show us what he is made of, then if he is "all that"by all means elect him then.

Most Americans whose families have been in this country for more then 100 years aren't pure-blood anything. Most of us will have a mixture of Indian, Negroid and Caucasian blood. Just because your skin is a darker tone doesn't mean your ancestry is predominately Negroid. There are just too many nationalities in this country to really call yourself anything but American. If any race was to remain pure blood, their DNA would turn to mush.

I really believe it should be against the law in America for any institution to record someone's, so called, race.

When I see a hyphen in front of American, I think that person feels he is somehow superior to the rest of us.

I am curious of this too.

You said yourself your of Irish-American decent, Im of German/Russian-American decent, and Barack Obama is of African American decent. None of us are inferior or superior. Why does anyone need to use a Hyphen? A hyphenated American isn't really an American. I will never support anyone for office who uses one, no matter what the hyphen is.

I never called myself an Irish-American. All I ever said was my family ended up in Ireland after the Romans forced them there when they invaded Gaul. They fled Ireland to get away from the Church. I'm talking about my family name and not the actual blood I have in me. My blood is very mixed, like most Americans.

Some people choose to embrace their heritage and ancestral culture. It doesnt make them any less American. It makes them more American IMO...

I embrace my heritage with a passion, but as I said , I don`t call myself or would never call myself a Confederate/American. Just plain American.
I also wouldn`t call myself German/English/Indian/American.
The list could go on and on for most of us. It is way passed all of that. American or not. If you are American you should at least honor those of your ancestors that made all the sacrifices for you to be American or the effort it took for yourself to do so if you went through the process in your lifetime. It is called American.
All of this has absolutely nothing to do with the issue as far as OsamaObama is concerned.
He could call himself Mars/Jupiter/Uranus/American and it still wouldn`t make him president material.

It's enough to just say you're descendent of X. It really doesn't mean jack right here and right now whether you're X-American or Y-American or even XYZ-American. You're american, or you aren't.
