You didn't see them with Chuck Negron.  They kicked him out of the band in the mid-seventies.  They haven't spoken since.  I saw them probably on the same tour you did and while Danny and Corey still put on a hell of a show, it's just not the same without Chuck.

Chuck sang "Easy to be Hard"" Eli's Coming""Joy to The World""Pieces of April""One"

Turn up your stereo.

One of my favorite S&G tunes... (Punky's Dilemma)

Wish I was a Kellogg's Cornflake
Floatin' in my bowl takin' movies,
Relaxin' awhile, livin' in style,
Talkin' to a raisin who 'casion'ly plays L.A.,
Casually glancing at his toupee.

Wish I was an English muffin
'Bout to make the most out of a toaster.

I'd ease myself down,
Comin' up brown.

I prefer boysenberry
More than any ordinary jam.
I'm a "Citizens for Boysenberry Jam" fan.

Ah, South California.

If I become a first lieutenant
Would you put my photo on your piano?
To Maryjane--
Best wishes, Martin.
(Old Roger draft-dodger
Leavin' by the basement door),
Everybody knows what he's
Tippy-toeing down there for

I enjoyed Simon and Garfunkle quite a bit. I loved their "I am a rock" when I was in Jr. High School as well as the others already mentioned. Their style of music is not meant for the headbanging heavy metal thrashing of eardrums of other bands. It's a totally different style of music and has to be appreciated for itself. Even with my reduced hearing capacity I can still understand S&G on the radio, I just have to turn up the volume now. :p
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Xargos ~ I was given an explanation to that name when I was about 6 or 7 years old... which now I'm sure is not correct. I've got a nice little warm & fuzzy about that kid-friendly explanation though ~ not sure if I want to know what it really means. :) Hold on that one. :)

"I Am A Rock"  Is one of the best songs ever written!
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

TexasMom... Dear as we all get older sometimes our senses are somewhat deminished a bit... first the vision goes and then...well...anyways.
We want you to enjoy music again.  Have you considered hearing assistance aids?

:D

Simon and Garfunkel sing with plenty of emotion.   Txmom, I'm thinking this is just you.

IMO, I've always thought their strongest influence were The Everly Brothers.    At least when I hear S&G, I immediately hear TEB in their songs.

I have always found most of their songs quite "powerfull" and don't have a clue what TxMom is thinking.

Well I also have this one saved too.. (David Bowie's first appearance)

At least on those Simon sounded meanful (Art still sounded like you might imagine a limp-fish handshake to feel).

You do realize that that's Arty singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water", right?

-you're very welcome.  If I had one of them new-fangled high speed connections I would have sent you more..

Skuzzy ~ is this when I ask to have a thread deleted???
*edit* nope, I won't ask for that. I dished it out well enough ~ I suppose I can take the hits with more grace. :)

There's no need to put "extra effort" into singing lyrics when the lyrics and the music are exceptionally powerful. Of course, if you have no real message, you can supposedly make up for that by singing "nothing" with "feeling".
