Speaking of flak. B25s on the deck
« on: March 04, 2008, 02:46:50 AM »
Sometimes when I play AH there are moments where a photo from a book will pop into my head based on something I see in the game.

This one popped in tonite when a few of us went strafing ships in B25s just for fun.

This kinda triggered the image

And of course all the flak that came up made for interesting looks

more intense

Just a second before Dirty Dora, my 25C strafer was blown to dust.

It is essential to get a JABO in and bomb the flight deck and cruiser before any B25's get busy.  Just one cabin boy can blow a b25/ japanese torpedo mishun out of the water.

Bomb those 5 inchers first then wreak havoc with the b25's!

A couple of 25H's in the lead would have had most of those acks out before the C's got in ack range.

B25h can score hits from 4k out with a bit of practise, 9 of those on a cruiser sinks it. A good run with 2 or 3 b25h's will see the cruiser dead first pass, and most ack dead on the carrier. Allowing you to exit, turn and come back to clean up.

Or as noted above a couple of Jabo's dropping in early to knock some ack down would also work.

Great pics Guppy, thanks for posting. :)

Although my last sortie in B25 wasn't the best, it was still fun shooting up PTs and LVTs :D

Gotta say the 25H is a great looking airplane down on the deck. Especially in that one skin. <S>

the big black puffys dont do much to me, i find that the 40mm quads and the 20mm auto ack is deadlier, one shot with the 75mm into a destroyer will instantly deack it
