Ok, I understand your points, and at least partially agree with them. The Japanese committed countless atrocities in WWII, and to that end no apology is owed. However, IMO it was the Japanese military/government that was responsible for those acts, not the civilians.
trigger2, I took my information from before/after pictures of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and before/after pictures of cities such as Dresden. And your comment about
in Japan, NOONE was a civilian when the bombs were dropped, people were trained to be kamikazies, any male over the age of 60 and female over I do believe 45 was ordered to be killed as they were not seen as 'fighting fit' and were just taking away from food after the shortage. Schools were changed into military acadamies, plus, call it a hunch, if americans were on their beaches, the jap civilians wouldn't of been going 'My oh my!! The americans are here! Whatever shall we do!' rather, they'd do what they were told to, find a long pointy stick, and charge to their death, so yeah, it was the most humanitarian thing to do. Plus, if all people are equal, then all japs were soldiers, therefore all japs shoulda had a death sentence on their head at the time, suck on that one :]
Think, it might hurt, but think.
Aaahhh....I am thinking...and the only pain I'm feeling is about the extreme stupidity exhibited in your above statement.
Rich46yo, thank you for making basically the only coherent reply to my post. I don't know too much about the points you made, however I would just like to point out that:
a)
I do not think that the atrocities committed by Japan during World War II justify killing civilians by the tens of thousands, partly because I doubt the (majority of the) civilians were directly responsible for these acts, and
b) this is more of a general point, but if one country kills 1,000 innocent people, surely another country doing the same thing, in retaliation, is just lowering itself to the level of the first country. Please don't get me wrong on this...I'm not condoning/agreeing with anything the Japanese did during World War II, I just thought that should be considered.
DaddyAck, my response to Rich's post largely applies to your's as well. I never denounced the USA, I just said (or at least meant to say) that I feel the nukes should have been dropped on a military target, not a civilian one. However, since what's done can't be undone, I think that it might be right for a US leader to say that it would have been better to drop the nukes on a non-civilian area, as the war (as far as I can tell) was against the military, not the civilians.
I think it's time this thread was Skuzzyified/locked/put back on topic.
In response to the
original post, I would like to see a B-29 in game, but without the nuke, and I also think there are many other planes that should be added first.
