Having issues with sounds/ downloads

I post here due to fact it is looked at more often it seems. Heres my issue, I have successfully downloaded Rangers sound pack, extracted it, moved and renamed the original sound file in AH, transfered Rangers sounds to AH and I get all the original sounds  . I did name the new folder sounds and deleted cache. when this did not work I renamed and moved the sounds RES file in AH as well, then I had no sound at all    It got to the point of uninstalling AH and reinstalling to get sound again. I have been down this road 3 times in the past week, and nothing has changed.
Now for the good part, when I open the sound file in AH and lets say open f4u1a engine start, it plays Rangers sound, not the AH default sound. I am by no means a computer whiz, quite the opposite probably, but I have never been slammed this bad by a simple download, anybody got any ideas?

Delete Rangers sounds lets start over. redownload rangers sounds. while those are downloading take and got to your HTC AcesHigh Settings Folder and right click on the old sounds then select cut the right click on your desktop and select paste. leave those there for right now. when the ranger sound pack is done open the zipped file and right click the sound file then go back to HTC AcesHigh Settings Folder and right click in there and select paste. then put your old sounds back into the settings folder (always keep it named old sounds)
