Should have been able to put in the Win XP install disc, then delete the partition and start fresh.

Nope tried that, all I got was a security warning from vista telling me that a unauthorized program was trying to run, and I needed to log off and log back on in the administrator profile, or admin acct, well heres a little hint for Mr Gates and his precious Vista garbage, I only have one acct on my computer and I'm the administrator, so I can't do what vista said to do.
If your talking about after I got vista off, it was easier to go ahead and format it where it was then reinstall it in mine and start from scratch. Besides my neighbor is cute, knows a little more than me about computers, works on cars, and he's single. So I spent as much time doing the install thing over at his place , the longer I'm there, the longer I can look :)

You have to boot off of the CD....then remove the previous partition(s),  create a new one, reformat, then install.  Repeat as necessary.

I know that, I'm blond not stupid :)
My point is WHY should I go through all that when I already had the hard drive in a working computer and completely formated it in NFTS format?
When i placed the Hard drive back in my computer all I had to do was the initial install of XP, my partition was already set up as 1, all previous "things" were removed.

XP will not remove vista from my computer at all. If you boot from the cdrom drive it will go through the screens until it tells you that xp won't overwrite Vista. Either way I have my xp back, and everything works fine, maybe in 5 or 6 years when vista is fixed (yea right) I'll get a computer with vista on it, if they even still have that hanging around, never know maybe vista will go the way of windows me, or the other versions that you don't see every day anymore.

Possibly the wrong forum for this discussion, but,

If, in your BIOS, you have the CD-ROM set as the first boot device, then you put your XP CD in and reboot, you should go in to the XP install process without Vista ever booting up and you should have no problems. If you let Vista boot, then put your XP disk in and try to start the XP install process from within Vista, then you'll have problems.
