you mean there's not gonna be 15 ostis on a single vbase now/? or a flock of them running to the 1/2 down town?

 :O

<S> CAP1 I have to agree with you sir.  Now though you will see 15 Wirblewinds on a single V base and a flock of wirblewinds going to take down town.  This new GV is just as effective and maybe more so if supplies are brought to take down town.  Any low flying aircraft such as the B25 or IL2 will be easy targets.

I was really looking forward to the new osti till I got in one and couldn't page up to get a better view.  Everyone who has ever used one knows it was hard enough before now it's very hard unless they are coming right at you.  I worked for along time to get good now the osti will be a hanger queen.

I was waiting for the 2 osti (for reach) and 3-4 wiblewind defence of a vh base and nothing would get in.  Would force better tactic's on the attackers part.  Only whinners want the bases easier to capture.  I want the new osti look with the old osti views.

So when the next patch comes out and it is learned the Pilot can no longer view anything but stright on..........how many whines do you think it will generate??  I would say far more than is posted here.  As a pilot I'm dependent upon my views for SA (& I'm a SUX pilot  :D).  Same applies to GV drivers.

I heard from many, "Your a Cheater" because someone got a kill from an Osti 2.5 to 4.0 out.  But BaDkaRmA you know as well as I do (& I know you know  :D) those shots are rare & few.  It's called spray and pray, and if your real lucky, and I mean really lucky,......some unfortunite NME pilot, who wasn't paying attention to SA, will fly into one of those golden BB's.

But no worries anymore, my golden BB won't by chance find you anymore because I'm unable to see you now, you now have a golden opportunity to fight and kill a blindman..........sounds challenging doesn't it.

Guys, this is not about someone cheating or being too good, of course i know ltars are that good, everyone knows that.
Aparently the change was done for a reason, as to why it was not done with the wirble and all gv's i dunno.

But to compare that, to the view INSIDE the planes cockpit holds no ground.

Send HTC a mail asking why, and then let us know.

Because I'm a lame cheater. I once took shamelessly advantage of changing & saving my cockpit views. I reached a new low when I started to use my TrackIr. I'm even cheap enough to raise my head position in drivers station in tanks, so that I'm not hampered by the small vision slit.

Keep your arms, legs AND kopf in the vehicle at all times, even if it is an open turret vehicle!  You are such a cheater.

I am not up to LTAR standards in the Ostie, but I could get some kills in them.  Sometimes a couple of hundred a month.  But I agree, the Osite is now worthless.
I STRONGLY disagree that the Ostie is worthless.

It is MORE EFFECTIVE against Buffs, IL2's and the larger craft.   Takes less hits to down one.   I can down Buffs with 3 hits and IL2's with 2 (not counting cockpit shots).

The osti was hard enough before and I think everyone can agree there only a hand full of current player that are considered very good in it.  So what's the big deal if there is a view option that helps make it "easier" to shoot.  There were spotters so why not use the spotters perspective ie page up.  Vulchers should worry more about the wirblewind anyway!

Personally I can't stand the "new" view from the Ostie cockpit.  The old view IMO was much better and at least you had somewhat of a fighting chance to defend yourself.  The Wirbelwind is a devestating AA weapon, however it's got limted range and is still very vaunerable to strafe attack.  I believe the playing field has been leveled a "little"  and I do mean little.  There has always been many aircraft with multi-barreled cannons, (not to mention bombs & rockets) there hasn't been any milti-barreled AA weapons except for the M16.  The M16 just doesn't carry the punch of 20mm, 37mm or 40mm.  This is why the twin & quad 40mm Bofors gun was so popular in WW2 and still used today.
Back to the topic,  I'd like to see the view put back to it's original configuration, it just doesn't make sense.  There's no way you're gonna tell me that if it were put back, planes would just simply be blown outta the sky.  No more than they were a month ago IMO.

P.S.  I'd still like to see the addition of the towed Flak88

My 2 cents

Apparently it's enough of a big deal that those who are too lazy to
set their views will send enough "cheating" emails to HTC that it's an issue.
At least according to one poster in this thread.

The old view IMO was much better and at least you had somewhat of a fighting chance to defend yourself.
Didn't the Ostie have more than one pair of eyes looking out of the turret?  If it did, it could be reason enough to give it its old view back, the same way bombers have external view enabled to simulate more eyes looking out than just the pilot's.
