Letting someone have their fun is what it is all about, besides it is their money and they should be able to play the way they want to.
Most of us agree to that up to a point, it is when the way they play interferes with the way we play is when it becomes a problem.
Carrier operations
If you’re on the 5” guns and you see a flight of Lancaster’s coming straight at the bow, what should you do?
1. Fire off a couple of rounds to see if you could hit them.
2. Ask someone to turn the ship
3. Turn the task group yourself.
If you find that someone has taken command of the task group, what should you do?
1. Blast away with your 5” guns and anticipate the task group commander turning the ships.
2. Advise the commander that we are under attack.
If the commander still does not turn the ship, what should you do?
1. Try to take command and turn the ships.
2. Type that the task group is about to be bombed.
If the Carrier is sunk, what should you do?
1. Say oh well and find something else to get into.
2. Fuss at the commander for letting that happen.
3. Go to the Roster and find the commander and go to where he is at.
I’ve done the later several times to find the commander on the other side of the map in a furball over the base.
I have great respect for the people who are commanding and never criticize the actions they take.
I lose respect if a commander puts a task group up next to an enemy base without planning for battle like taking the ordinance out and then going to some other part of the map to play. Effecting a battle and possibly the outcome of the war.
Again I’m not pounding on the pilots that have done this, but I think it is an issue that needs to be addressed.
If you put your name down as the commander of a task group it should be handled just like a mission. If you leave the the bridge or the sector of the task group your command should be relinquished.
I’m sure there are people that can do two things at once, but your not being fair to your fellow pilots if while your in command, you are not in the battle with them.
