I'll know more after Mon when I see a pulminary specialist.  The family Phys just took a wild guess and told me to make an appt with the Pulm Spc.

I have a few friends who abused Steroids back in the 80s, and now they've developed health problems from arthritis to asthma....You might want to mention to your doctor you used steroids, Rip.

Rip - After watching you match beers with the FDB's during the first con (including the 'special brew') I'm not sure you're allowed to have a medical 'complaint'.  You should still be numb.

I'm back after 5 years (it took that long to purge the cigar smoke).

It's good to know you're still here.

Getting old is not for the faint of heart or the weak.  :devil
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Yo Raider! Long time! Hell ya! FDB's reputation of drinking is overrated but I really don't remember drinking that much with them. :D

I'm sure you remember it better than me.  I was pretty much gone for the weekend after 2 beers on Friday night!

Well .. 58 in May ..beginnin to notice I need a bit of maintenance down time more than I used to.

Born with Asthma.. some very specific triggers that I stay away from.
Been on Albuturol for decades. Doc just switched me to Xopenex a month or so ago..said it had less side effects.
I'm thinkin since it costs about 3 times more than Al did, he's prolly rippin me off.. because if Al was gonna bite me, it would have a long time ago.

I beat Asthma about the head and shoulders by gettin involved in physically demanding types of jobs for a long time.
The stint at Kesmai roont my girlish figure, and I began to have breathin problems.
It surprised me how fast my general fitness went south while I worked there.

I am still playin catch up ..dunno if I will ever be back down to the 200lbs I was when I started there at KesCo..
..damn glad I am nowhere near the almost 400lbs I was when I left video gaming all together.

I've been hangin at ~300lbs for the winter ..will start droppin weight again over the summer, always do.
Had the pulmonary eval today after bein on CPAP for 2 weeks.. was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, and since CPAP and maintenance drugs (Singulair and Flo-nase) ..I haven't had one of my patented killer headaches that lay me out for a day.

I always useda have one or two a month during season changes.
Ima go out tomorrow and clean the Vette up, see what the day brings :)

little over six foot tall and 190 here.  exercise every day but come from a lean family.   long lived people.

No allergies and am never sick.. had the flu 3 times in my life. never had any kind of heartburn or stomach ache.  Get a cold every 10 years or so that amounts to a runny nose and sore throat.

Every broken bone aches tho..  and I have broken a lot.. back was broke twice..  9 broken verts..  two places fused on their own.. no big deal..  leg that was reattached  30 year ago now has the nerves back but keeps me from running.. no big deal.. I never ran anyway.   crushed ankle feels like walking on a knife some days but is mostly fine..  some days I limp a little..  others not.  eat whatever I want and have a great little mexican girl friend.

Life is good.. I can now afford to be a little more comfortable or.. maybe I am just happier with my lot.

I can walk forever.. don't get out of breath but.. as you age. you notice that you don't bounce back as much.. you get sore and it hangs in for a few days.   the kids recover from physical exertion a lot faster..

well.. most of em.. some are so out of shape that it is pathetic.

mostly tho.. these things are genetic.

Albuterol is not a steroid.

Just keep in mind Rip that Albuterol is a bronchodilator. If you're using it more than a couple of times a week, your asthma is out of control and you're best bet will be to use an anti-inflammatory, which will be a steroid. I expect that your pulmonary guy will say much the same thing.

FWIW, my son has asthma. We've been dealing with it for the bast fifteen years.

Oh yeah... I should mention.. I have a friend that developed asthma as an adult. On a couple of occasions it's almost killed him.

Be careful. It can be really REALLY serious.

Turned 63 last october - started Aces High on my 62nd birthday - been a gas. (Semi) retiring thursday (4/10) and looking forward to whatever adventure life throws my way. Physically feelin' good - (aches and pains from an old motorcycle wreck notwithstanding) and think I'm as sharp mentally as ever. I believe age is a state of mind over matter - if you don't mind, it don't matter. Admittedly, there are some things I could do at 20, 30 and 40 that either take me longer, or I won't even attempt - recognizing as Clint said "A man should know his limitations". No problemmo - maturity is acting your age - I'm not 20 and don't expect to act 20 (thank God).

My $.02
