Oh ACLU...where are you?
« on: April 09, 2008, 08:24:24 PM »
I wonder why this charter school has not been shut down yet.
Where's the ACLU on this one?
Where's the outrage over the "separation between church and state"?
Why does this get a pass?

I hope they pursue this, tax money shouldn't be used for a religious school.

It almost seems like there are two schools being discussed in the article. The second one a "public funded" charter school. Does MN use tax for all charter schools?

Yeah Donzo I see that, it's clear in the second article. The first article was rather unclear about that. I had to read it 3 times really looking for the blurb that used the term "public funded". It almost seemed like it was saying the school was owned (privately) by the California based muslin group. That's why I edited my first post.

I always though charter schools were private schools ~ to include funding.

The ACLU has responded:

So, uh, there they are, to answer the OP's question.

I guess you object to vouchers also which would be the equivalent?

I don't want my tax money spent to indoctrinate someone too young to defend themselves.  Plenty of folks here are fine with this, as long as it's a nice god fearing christian school.  If they're equally sanguine about their tax money being spent on, say, a madrasas, then go for it.

Me?  I'm not a fan.

I'm a fan of God fearing Christian schools. But I think that they should be privately funded schools entirely ~ not tax payer funded.

Tax payers are also the parents of those children. Vouchers seems like the best answer to me.

If God is so great.... Why must we fear it?

Respect possibly.  Fear?

It's The Church you need to fear, not God.

Catholic Bishops make a vow to The Church, not to God.

He's a scarey dude. I fear his wrath, for sure. I'll save that for another thread though.  :)
