The only American helo to see be used was the YR-4. It was used to rescue some downed pilots in Burma. So, it never saw combat, and the Y designation usually means that it is a prototype, not a production aircraft.

I dont know if they did this in WWII, but could the chopper have rockets on it to help take out a town. Not large rockets, but the ones on the fighters and only a few, say 6 or 8.

The might not have had rockets so I dont know, and I am to lazy to look it up right now.

you forgot about the German dragonfly, it was used in 1942 to aid the mountion division, get supplies and wounded men out of the area. It seem service before any of those if they ever did.

why rescue a  downed pilot? so you fly out to the battlefield slowly with the risk of getting ripped apart by flak or cons then pick up the pilot and bring him back to base ..... :uhoh :uhoh :uhoh :uhoh :uhoh :uhoh :uhoh

Didn't they use Zeppelin's as bombers or transports in late WWI?

I know they where used as passengers transports, we all know the Hindanberg. But I want to say they used them to move cargo

But now I am off topic.

Helos are hard to fly, and slow. (The ones that have been tossed around in the topic) So crushing a furball, I doubt. I can see a chopper with a gun acting as mobile ack. But they where not in WWII, as far as I know.

Zeppelins or any airship would be cool, if only because I'd LOVE HOing them with a B-25H.  :devil
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.
