What's the point?
« on: April 20, 2008, 02:51:37 AM »
Tonight I was flying an La7 on one of those very very rare occasions (about my 4th or 5th time since 2001... BTW, nice plane.  I can see why noobs like it).  Anyway, I was on the Baltic map and V10 had just been attacked from the NE.  I flew out past it as the last of the attackers were taken out by an LTAR and soon spotted a B5N, an F4U and another dot in front of, and slightly below me.

I waited until the B5N passed under me, then turned to aquire his six before the others got there but he turned and avoided my high speed pass so I climbed out ready to set up another pass.

The next thing I saw was both his friends augering/exploding in the water, then the B5N followed suit.  They were all outside the 2K limit for me to get the proxies but it didn't matter as they never got the chance for another attack on the base.

Then that was it.  They dissapered.  No more enemys.

So what's the point in that?  If it was a squad I'd be embarrased to be a member.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

About a week ago I watched from the tower as six sets of lancasters about 10k up droped all thier bombs on the hangers of a field then one by one bailed out before thier bombs even hit.

Buff bailers used to be a big problem a while back. Dont see as many of them now thankfully but its really annoying when you grab to their alt just to see them bail without attempting a fight. Nobody ever admits that they do it so i film it and review who it was so i can poke them abit on 200 ;). It used to be alot of that from a  specific squad that mostly lived in EW/MW. Their usual defence when i confront them is that they lose points if shot down. I try to explain that they lose em when when bailing too and that they lose potential points for killing me, but to no avail.

It's the same as the guy who walks out of the Mens Room with a big wet spot on the front of his pants and says he splashed water on himself washing his hands  :D

So what's the point in that?

To deny you the kills.
I had a formation of Lancs doing the same yesterday. It took off from A6 for some easy milk of the nearby rook strat (nothing wrong with that), while I was over the field. When I swooped down on them, the pilot quickly bailed, about 30 seconds after takeoff...

I don't even take the time to play much anymore, and I've even noticed the "run away" or "bail" tactic, even in a potential one vs. one. My Yak is not that intimidating, especially in my inept hands. :frown:

Personally, I see a big difference between "run away" and "bail".

If you are my enemy, feel free to use the performance envelope of your plane.

I'd be embarrased to overshoot the first merge and then have something as slow as a B5N get 2k away and miss out on a prox kill?  Sorry, I'm failing to understand which is the lame part in all of this.
