Open Cockpit

I would like to be able to open the cockpit. This way, you can stick you head out the window and get a better view below you. If you have the ability in the plane, then lets have the ability in the game. It would also be really interesting how the wind sounds coming into the cockpit.

I dont know about that, maybe something along the lines of having to open the cockpit to bail out, and have the cockpit as a damage option, where it could jam and the pilot would nob be able to bail.

If it got jammed wasn't there a way to like eject it off? If this happens mabey make bail time longer if it gets jammed?

id like to see at least one or maybe 2 open cockpit ww2 fighters available. the russians, poles, and germans used them

If you stick your head out the cockpit at 300mph, do you automatically get a neck cramp and are unable to look around for the rest of the flight? Broken neck at 350 and you die?

Ya, and when you're up at 15K and someone shoots a hole in your canopy it causes explosive decompression!

I've read at least two accounts of pilots' cockpits being jammed, rendering them unable to bail-out when they tried. It would be nice if this would be a damage option, just out of realism.

well the 190 had explosive charges 2 blow off canopy in a bail





plus altitude would alos have an effect, if 2 high whold not have enough air, because pilots dont seem 2 use O2 masks

Then you could set up a typhoon force super turbo fan by your monitor and have it actuated by the key that opens the canopy for full immersion    Make sure to strap on your leather hat, goggles and scarf first though.

Homeboy could probably help you out with this (the fan, not the outfit).

Yes, you should be able to open the cockpit canopy.
Yes you should then be able to "lean" and look down, forward, up, etc.

Yes you should be able to do so with a oil spattered windshield.

Yes if you do so at too high an airspeed, or too soon after the oil has been hit you should get oil on your eyes.

I don't know about you guys but when I'm out flying on a saturday I sure as hell don't open up and lean out.  Sure on long flights (going down south to england for airshows) I will open the canopy for some fresh air but thats all.

I cant tell you how many times ive bailed out by accident with a bunch of kills or at the begining of a mission. It would be alot harder to do that if you had to open the cockpit first. I give it a thumbs up

Yeah... instead you'd just eject into the canopy glass, bonk your head, knock yourself out and crash
