I was just wondering how well the trackir system worked with AH.

When I first used it the stock/default settings were.........

Even thought about putting it up for sale!

BUT I ENDEAVORED to PERSEVERE (really enjoyed the Outlaw Josey Wales, I am part AmerInd, and I'm gettin old, keep thinkin same gal will become convinced that I'm a chief :) :) :)  :rock :rock :rock)

Found that the best way to use trackir is with aggressive settings!

More view movement with LESS head movment!  With a small dead zone for front/aiming.

Also looking to your 6 is ODD at first!  just turn your head left or right until you see your seat headrest THEN LEAN then ?opposite? way to view your 6..........  works well but take awhile to get used to.

Others use even MORE aggressive settings then I.

Be warned nearly any strong light or reflective surface BEHIND you WILL at one time or another create PROBLEMS!

The darker it is behind you (read here inline with the trackir pickup unit) the better.

I invested in the 3 led unit and am so far very pleased with the result, BUT take into consideration the above statements PLEASE!

I love it. Make sure true view is turned off (mine has vector selected) so you dont need to lean like that, I was of the same mind as Wrag at first. I downloaded Mace's profile that someone else modified, can not recall which squads website though. I can email the profile to you if you get TrackIr. Works in gvs and guns, but I usually turn it off in those, buffs as well.

This is probably the one Halo is talking about.

You might want to take a look at changing the process priority of TIR as well.  I found it makes the thing so much smoother.  Here is my article on that:

One word of caution; I tried it for a longish period, followed everyone's advice and really liked it BUT... my SA simply is not the same without instant views. I can follow the bogey very easily with TrackIR, but somehow I lose the sense of where he is relative to my plane, as well as my plane's attitude relative to his.
So I was enjoying flying around with it but my combat effectiveness was rather low. As soon as I ditched the TrackIR it jumped back to previous levels (i.e. from "totally lame" to "fair but nothing to write home about"). So now the TrackIR is collecting dust :)

To counterpoint Grifones remarks, I find it easier to fly with trackir - to me the better sa allows me to fly more instinctively - ie, I dont have to think where my plane is in relation to the enemy - it moves there of its own volition (However, you do need to keep a close eye on altitude when in a vert fight - even if you think you are way higher than you are).

It takes a bit of time to get used to, and you may find you cant shoot as well as previously (you'd be amazed how much body movement you make when flying, and trackir reflects this movement), but give it time, and you wont go back to flying without it (imo)

you might want to carry a barf bag on your first few flights with it as well.  But I love mine.
